This is the most pessimistic I have read from you jirskyr. Things must be bad
I don't really feel pessimistic, I'm just saying that I feel the same way about lip service from Richo as I did from Pascoe or any of his predecessors. Richo does not get a leave pass because he's got a more "genuine" and rough manner of speaking, nor was Pascoe necessarily worse because he always looked smug and had weird haircuts.

So when Richo says "XYZ" I can understand what he is saying, whilst also recognising that we are currently a very poor team. I very clearly remember watching Eels 2011-2013, Knights 2015-2017 or Bulldogs 2020-2021, some really bad sides struggling to put any wins together, armfuls of wooden spoons, and I recognise that right now that is Tigers. And what makes it worse for Tigers is these very lean seasons we are currently experiencing are not bookended by some better campaigns, they only preceded by a decade of gradual slide away from competitiveness.

So it goes back to the CEO - he can say what he pleases but it's fairly meaningless until we start winning. I am looking forward to the positive results. Have not seen those results yet so season 2024 is currently 2/10.

No, he doesn't.

But he does get one because he's actually done it.

At Sharks.
At Hull FC.
At Penrith.
At Souths.

Runs on the board means you can actually trust his words. Or at least moreso than those who haven't.

I agree that words are essentially meaningless except to placate a pretty unhappy fanbase temporarily. One thing Richo has is runs on the board however, which possibly give his words a little more substance.

His predecessor was a poor operator and a liar. Richo will need longer than 6 months to get us out of the shit heap we were dropped in. He inherited a mess.

We don't know what negotiations are happening. Richardson has said he undertakes talks in private. That means there will be no or few leaks to the media. So not hearing word of player negs. does not mean they are not happening. I am happy to see what eventuates. I have a feeling it will be good.
We have been let down so many times, I don’t think I can believe anymore , but since u think it will happen I am willing to wait this Xmas , only because I believe in Santa Claus 🎅

Michael Maguire has won premierships with Wigan, Souths, 70% win rate with NZ and now an Origin win at his first attempt. Tigers can humble even the most stellar of records.

I am happy for the record Richo has, and I think he is the right type of man for the job. I'm not anti-Richo. But at this stage I'll believe it when I see it.

Entirely reasonable.

My only point was that he gets a longer rope than most. Just as Madge got the best part of 4 years.

And if he doesn't fix it, we can always pitch WT to Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

The interview with Richo was a breath of fresh air after years of "we're doing great".

It actually prompted me to call a mate who was a not so amazing player when Richo was CEO at Penrith 20 or so years ago where they went from wooden spooners to premiership in two years. He told me:

- Richo was very quick to get rid of players he thought either had no skill or a bad attitude (some were guys that the previous coach really rated)
- At the same time, he worked hard to keep players he knew he wanted to keep
- He brought in a few trustworthy journeymen with good attitudes
- He completely cleaned out the wooden spoon coaching staff

Although we're having a shocker of a season, it sounds like Richo is doing a lot of the same things that have worked for him before.
