Paris Olympics: 26 July 2024 – Sun, 11 Aug 2024

A season best for Brandon Starc in the Men's High Jump qualification, jumping to 2.24m!
Teammates Yual Reath and Joel Baden flew to 2.20m and 2.15m respectively, however all three high jumpers missed out on making the final

Each to his own .I think basketball is the one I don't want as the winner is 100% USA not even 99% .Impossible they lose
Golf the winner could come from a number of countries . The crowds said the golf exceeded expectations massively .crowds bigger than the Masters.
You could see it meant more to the players to win this than their million dollar tournaments
Guess it depends if you like golf .I do the skill levels at the top are mind boggling !
Agreed.

Very happy to see the Aussies doing so well across so many sports.
Gone are the days of winning a couple of golds in the pool and then struggling through all other events, winning a surprise one here or there.
Great day with 4 golds!

According to reports it was our best day ever with 4 golds and also it is the most golds we have ever won with 18 and still 4 days to go.
I will be surprised if we hang on to 3rd place but this is undoubtedly our most successful Olympics

Nina Kennedy vaults Australia into history!
(Nina's gold makes the Paris Games Australia's most successful ever.
It's also Australia's best single day at a Games - four golds and two bronze.)

I got on the forum this morning just to see this post.
I knew you’d have it up. Thanks for your efforts with this thread @tiger_one it is much appreciated. Although I can’t open it until I’ve watched all the replays or I’ll know who won.
Nina was just an amazing force of a woman last night. It’s not always the looks that makes a woman dead hot.

Interesting results with our teams in the games. Usually we claim some medals from them all but this tournament has not been as kind to us.

BASKETBALL
  • Boomers, FIBA ranked 5th in the world, exited the tournament in the quarter finals.
  • Opals, FIBA ranked 3rd in the world, are still alive in the semi finals.
SOCCER
  • Olyroos, FIFA ranked 24th in the world, failed to qualify for the tournament.
  • Matildas, FIFA ranked 12th in the world, failed to get out of the group stage.
HOCKEY
  • Kookaburras, FIH ranked 6th in the world, exited the tournament in the quarter finals.
  • Hockeyroos, FIH ranked 5th in the world, exited the tournament in the quarter finals.
RUGBY 7's
  • Men's team, SVNS ranked 4th in the world, lost in playoff for Bronze - came 4th.
  • Women's team, SVNS ranked 2nd in the world, lost in playoff for Bronze - came 4th.

This is not trying to be negative about our magnificent achievements, but trying to compare the amount of gold medals to other eras isn't being fair
When you see the amount of events we have now compared to even the Sydney Olympics .....let alone the Melbourne Olympics .....its crazy
Keep the personal bests and medals coming
