Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I wouldn’t be surprised if his 2 years with us has shortened his career.
I.e. he plays a year longer if he stays with Penrith or goes to a good club.
Hopefully he can help Luai next year but I suspect some damage has been done to his psyche, his ego and his body.
Hopefully JL and more importantly some wins will rejuvenate him and he can close out his career strongly with a WTs GF win.

Lets be honest, the entire squad has checked out for 2024... The most obvious sign of this is that there is zero urgency in defense, but everyone is quick to show what they have in attack when there is a half chance.

The next few months should be about reshaping the roster, moving on the players that need to are not up to standard and bringing in players that have the attitude and mental fortitude to bring the club forward.

Pole or Sione Fainu re-singing would be a positive start, followed by some solid external signings over the next few months.

I don’t think his best position is back row, will be interesting to see where he plays in the panthers side next year.
I’m guessing a middle forward.
i got him for top 5 nrl players next year,Ivan will make his job very simple in which he will excel

If we are going to be paying significant freight we may as well just keep Sullivan around for decent depth. If some team was dumb enough to pick up his entire contract then 100% he should go but that won’t happen. Could maybe save $200-$250k but there’s not really much point when we already have $2 mil to try spend

Maybe we can cop his freight for depth in 2025 - but he has two more years on good coin after that which is not sustainable unless he becomes a regular in the top 17

caring him n broken Finau is not cost affective

I might be in the minority but Api seems to be regressing a lot this year compared to last year. I can understand everyone defending him because he's our best player and deserves praise for his commitment, but at times he overplays his hand way too much. It's getting frustrating, adding on to the other stupid defensive decisions made weekly. Da Silva can handle first grade. I'd go Koroisau at 7 in attack with sezer out and then defending in the middle (not on an edge), with da silva at 9. Of couse the issue with this is lack of kicking strengths with galvin and koroisau, but latu fainu might not be back this week, and sullivan is apparently far from selection
I feel sorry for our hookers. With the other lazy shit middle defenders they get isolated and tackle themselves to a standstill.

API made 37 tackles today while playing 20 minutes in the halves.

Front rowers made 20.

We need some aggressive forwards with engines.

I agree, Ive been concerned about Latu’s injuries since day 1. He must have had 4-5 hamstrings problems in the last year or 2… as a youngster that’s a big concern.

Hopefully he gets past it, has all the talent to be a great player but I have my doubts with so many isolated injuries at that young age

Both starting props played 50 minutes to Api's 80 minutes, so there is that.

Klemmer defended well, again. There's just a narrative around here that he isn't putting in.

Da Silva had the world at his feet last year, yet progressed this year doing sweet f a in the lower grades, n seemed even less expected of him ,that b a problem need fixing
Sure does Merlot, you know it.
This is another problem we need addressed. I would rather fix that problem than rush or impede the development of TDS.
We need a first grade benchy that can cover 9 competently so TDS can develop having full games in KOE and play NRL every few weeks or when suspensions and injuries hit, or we lose players to origin, (holds belly while laughing; origin as if). There are plenty of games throughout the year this happens.
We will have JL at 7 next year that should stop you wanting to play Api at 7, we just need to find a bench 9 who can play as a forward, or back, or both, competently when required.
That was easy, now on to all the other problems.
Doubie’s defence? How do we stop him from running in and having an air swing as the play runs past him leaving his winger exposed? I bet a lot will blame the winger, (who is diabolical in his own special way), but it’s hard to stay on ya man when ya inside centre leaves high and dry.
The stats say Doubie only missed one tackle, they obviously don’t count air swings?

Bring in Isiah Tass to compete for a starting centre position.

Jazz Tevaga to cover that #13/#9 role.

The BIGGEST LOSER...

Doueihi is like Nofa - and actively avoids missing tackles by rushing into gaps and not even being close to making contact.

BUT his turnstile tackle for Gagai's break was a true Doueihi master-class in arm grabbing and then standing back watching as the play passes you by...

Give me time ,lot 2 digest there.TDS the benchy 4 Api's woes, problem solving on Dwayhee is not ever sign him 2 another contract.i dont know the answer 2 any of our problems and im sure the club has not found the answer for our back line, wingers? jamming in,that jamming in infuriates me,dumb dumb dumb, stick pick have faith, should that not b coached thru all grades?

Sounds good. We probably don’t need Jazz or similar for long either, couple of years to let TDS develop. I would rather pay a little over for a shorter contract for that player if it was to assist with TDS development and reduced mins to ease the burden on API. I would see it as an investment in TDS future and Apis.

He is atrocious and it amazes so many people pick him in their weekly teams. Don’t forget his drop ball, he must have 1 a game.
His feigning of an injury is first class soccer quality.
I never forget the time we played knights, he dropped the ball, again, and feigned a leg cramp. Gamble stood over him and politely asked if he required veterinary assistance as all he could see was a cat. Well all of a sudden Doobie’s cramp has miraculously healed, he was then able to leap to his feet and the cat claws came out.
Gamble turned out to be a more competitive and better footballer than doobie and lick bricks. He was never given a fair go here. Not that I’m heartbroken.
