Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Benji is only one person involved at Wests Tigers, we do happen to have the most experienced CEO in the entire NRL who is very hands on, therefore he would now also play a crucial role in managing our players moving forward and that’s not to mention John Morris and whoever else we end up with as our assistant coach.
It is plain crazy to continue saying clubs with higher profile coaches are suited to certain players, but we are not.
Let’s get in the fight, strive to be the best at managing our players and become a destination club for talented, but wayward players looking to revive their careers.
If done correctly with the appropriate conditions in their contract, it becomes very low risk, but potentially high reward if we can get the best out of them.

there are many more players Richo can go after rather than Schuster ….

He has too much on his plate to be giving him too much extra attention

Galvin won't run sideways as much if we get a forward pack that consistently punches over the advantage line & puts defence on the back foot.

Fair enough, though all players will do that, and whilst I see plenty to like about Galvin, very few waltz across field anywhere near as much as he does.

I suspect Schuster’s Manager will advise him to seek out one of these three coaches to get his career on track - Bellamy , Bennett or Hasler ..

He is now in the Last Chance Saloon career wise… but even more importantly…he needs a proven leader of men to fix him off the field as well… not a coach with the L plates still on ..

It would be a shame if someone with his talent just falls through the cracks at such an early age ..
I actually think Melbourne would be the worst place for him. Some times big boys are better as big boys and shouldn't be changed to much. Not saying don't improve their fitness but also take them for what they are. George Rose was a regular first grader until Bellamy tried to strip the weight off him. Was never the same again. Same goes for Kasiano who was a Prop of the Year winner before going to Melbourne only to play out his career in the UK.

To get the best out of Luai and Galvin we obviously need a strong forward pack, obviously need some hard running and fast backs, but the most important thing will be to have a 13 that can play as a first receiver and free them up wider of the ruck.
I understand there has been talk about Latu Fainu taking on this role and that may be a good option for him to play 40 minutes as a 13 shared with somebody else.
Dylan Walker has also been mentioned, but his price is 600k, when I think we could potentially get Schuster for 250k tops.
Everyone has an opinion, but I believe a motivated and fit Schuster along with Jack Williams and possibly Latu Fainu also spending a little bit of time as a 13, would give us the basis of a brilliant attack.

I think Schuster has the potential to be a great player but how many times have we seen this tigers making a risky signing on a player who has the potential to be great and it basically never works only time I remember it working was with Luciano and he left in two years anyways so signing Schuster would be a horrible idea we need to sign players now that we now that will do their role well with basically no risk to it, look I rate Schuster I hope he ends up being a great player but the club is not in the position to make that type of signing

A 100% no to schuster. That’s pretty obvious right? Another guy who operates at about 50% with a poor a work rate and no ticker? We should be looking at someone like wishart - a good understudy who has come on leaps and bounds, who plays with heart, courage and desire who has played within a highly functional system at the storm.

There’s would have been no risk if benji had of jump straight in and said to him I believe in u , the club will offer u a one year deal at $250 or tops $300 , and a option for 2-3 years on $600 if u show u can get fit and play good footy as a lock , take it or leave it

LOL Get out of jail free card....you are hypocritical.
Of course they have been awful. The whole team has, including Sezer, our most ill disciplined, Api, our worst defender and Lachlan Galvin who touched the ball more than everyone bar Api.
Heres the thing. I voiced concerns ahead of the season that using a schoolboy in first grade all year would end in tears...especially because he was in such a pivotal position.
For the majority of the season our attack was the worst in the comp by a LONG WAY.
Is that all on the kid? of course not and Ive never once said so....but he did play his part and this is the bit that many of you wont acknowldge.
Still waiting on the list of players outside Galvin who have suffered because of him being there....
It's because it's non existent.

Galvin takes the line on. When he take's the line on, he needs support players with him, at the same speed. Not 2metres behind where they need to be to make an impact.

That's on the outside players. They need to keep up with Galvin.

You may be forgetting that he is contracted to Manly for 800k per season.

Manly would need to cover the rest and it's unlikely they would tip in 500k a season otherwise he'd already be out of there.

He got a payout. Free 2 negotiate a new contract
Ah thanks for the info. In that case I would definitely take him at 250k. You need some squad members on about this money that can fill spots 18 and 24 each week.

If he performs, that's a bonus for us. If not, he isn't using much cap. I wouldn't be unhappy if the club took that gamble.

We have loads of 200-300k players that will not play first grade next year unless we are desperate or their form drastically improves.

I'm prepared to cut him some slack. Lost his good
mate Keith Titmuss, had the media calling him fat
everyday, dealing with mental health etc. He's only
23 now, credit to him for walking away from money
that he was guaranteed to work on himself. If he's
ticking all the right boxes than why not offer a deal.
Benji loves him, I'm sure he's put out some feelers...

A half decent centre would seize the moment and run a cross-line for him into a gap or break a tackle. He’s let down by the surrounding players like many playmakers before him.

As an instinctive players who been given a license to play eyes up, it’s a shame his footy brain isn’t matched by his outside men.

P.s watch how many linebreaks Munster creates by drifting sideways and attracting defenders.

Schusters one of the most talented players I’ve seen honestly. People are quick to forget what he did in that 2021 rookie season in the back row, he was playing that good that Fitler was going to select him for NSW as a 19 year old for NSW until he injured his calf.

His best friend passing away clearly took a big toll on his mental health but if he can get in the right mindset & get to peak fitness I think he will be one of the best players in the comp. Surely it would be a signing Benji would like at the right price, he did say Schusters debut was the best he’s seen & he has that same natural ability to just play what’s infront
Yes... His ball.playing is fantastic

Doesn't mean he'd accept it... And it's no guarantee of no risk

This post will make it happen but I hope the club doesn't let us down again and not announce the signings they said would happen in coming days.

Just feels like our club loves taking this piss out of us fans. 😎
