Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We need to offload Bateman. He doesn't stand out in super league.

If Feledy is not rated by the club, then he should be shown the door.

I would be happy to take Fainu or Faatape on smaler contracts assuming we have spots at the bottom end of the top 30. If not dev or T&T contracts.

Apart from players we want to offload like Naden and Sullivan, we have a lot of top 30 spots being taken up by kids who will really need to step up to make us competitive.
Tumeth (why - he is not up to KOE)
Kit Laulilii
Matamua
Miller
Saukuru
Sukkar

Faatugu is only contracted for next year and I think he could be the best of those kids.

I really question which other clubs would have a third of their roster taken up by juniors (regardless how good) that probably need a lot of experience before they are first grade ready? Particularly forwards
Massive problem.

After watching last nights game it’s clear to me Latu Fainu is going to be an excellent 13 long term.

I’m very confused by members suggesting Galvin at 13… right now Galvin looks way better than both Moses and Brooks looked as juniors here. I think he’ll be our new Tedesco in this era, we need to prioritise his future and shifting him to the forward line at 13 is pretty much guaranteeing he’ll be gone next November. Bookmark that.

That pass Latu threw to Seyfarth was very Yeo like and will keep the defensive line on high alert giving both Luai and Galvin all the space out wide moving forward. Fainu also seems hard to tackle and can break a tackle quite easily and on top of that, from a defensive standpoint he can more than handle the middle.

However it’s clear the club have prioritised bringing in some senior experienced players hence the Jack Bird rumours. Whilst also focussing on improving our forward depth.

I believe if we do move forward with Latu at 13 we need to bring in some serious size to balance our pack.

I’m personally a big Corey Horsbrough fan.

A name I think about as well is young Cronulla forward Tuku Hau Tapuha who’s available to speak to clubs in November this year. Xavier Wilson from Brisbane is another name I would be closely monitoring. Leo Thompson from Newcastle another name I’d be paying attention too.

Big money players available to chat in November also include names like Ruben Cotter and J’maine Hopgood who should be considered.
Not yet for mine. I think you risk having the same scenario you’re expecting with Galvin if you suggest to Latu he is not a half.
Remember Karl Olopo was a large solid half and Gould turned him into a lock well before his time leading to a serious neck injury. Sure it’s an isolated incident but one possible by putting a young half in the forwards without much experience in doing so before hand.
For mine; his brother Sione is our best lock. And would be happy with them both sharing a middle forward role but Latu starts on the bench for impact and to get him into the softer part of the game.
Attack wise 100% agree was thinking the same when he threw that pass.

man this world is toppsy turvy - 3 days ago Bird reached out 2 Bunji -now its Richo in hot pursuit of his service - and we can get 2 4 1from Stephano;s departure in Hunt n Hors, lol
Hasn't played well in an injury prone half decade
It's not Blore with time and size on his upside..Bird is Bateman 2.0 trading off performance 5 yrs ago
Big no
Hunt useful in 17 if priced accordingly
Not sold on Cory ..more anger than impact
We need some genuine quality to replace fwds we've lost..not discards who happen to be available rite now

Did you watch Horsburgh today? Got folded most runs and made a silly error. He's not the answer unless he accepts a 350k contract.
I also saw 29 tackles with only 1 miss. Against Penrith. I also saw Canberra leading in the 1st half while he was on, then falling behind while he was off, only to regain the lead when he was back on in the second half.

Canberra's middles defend well & work together. Pretty much what I've been advocating for.

I wouldn't be adding Horsburgh or Hetherington for their attacking abilities.

Plenty of players tackle with those stats. It you concede he is poor in attack, what do we need him for? We need guys that can make metres and get us rolling forward.

To prevent the poachers from taking him. Bennett and Bellamy wanted him from recollection. Sheens in 2005 onwards used the NRL salary cap to sign the best of our young talent to prevent it from being poached by the stronger clubs.
He is slow , well over weight, misses to many tackles , no leg speed , should I go on

I would only sign royce hunt if its for 2025, not worth the wait.

Jack Bird no thanks.

RCG would be handy but sounds like its out of Dragons and Panthers.

In richo we trust !
I would be happy if we got all 3
Hunt and Campbell Gillard is a huge get and Bird just may be the help we need for the young guys , I heard he trains hard and is a team player , that’s a good start

We need both.

We are scoring points and we are letting alot in mainly because we get dominated in the middle & let teams roll down the ground.

Chad puts abit of effort into things, one of a few that do. He isn’t wrong with what he is highlighting.

The other thing is the market is bare and most of us fans want the shiny signing when we really need squad effort players who we absolutely can depend on most weeks.
