Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I would say Matamua has not reached the training & fitness standards set by Benji whilst Kit and/or Faagutu and/or Sione Fainu may be seen as overtaking him in the lock depth chart.
Yes….plus he is not a very good player.
The way he was promoted well above his time was very harmful.
Whoever made that decision needs to be outed and shamed.

list of players basically told they are free to look elsewhere

- sullivan
- naden
- tumeth (the storm and parra have offered dev contracts
- justin matamua
- solomon saukuru

feledy was told earlier in the year but supposedly has won over benji with how hard he trains

hopefully we sign montoya
I'm so sick of Benji getting boners over players that train hard. I see people at my local gym training pretty hard. You still need to be a good player. Benji needs to open his eyes.

Work ethic is the only thing that guarantees a talented player can/ will make it . Everything else is completely variable . Eg . Coal Train Taylor . His massiveness only got him so far .
Or another Taylor , who went to the titans on a mil a year , but loved Cavill Ave a little too much …
Or another sport Johnny Manziel , won a Heisman trophy , yet spent more time doing lines in the strip club than reading play books . And was cut from his club after next to no time , to finish up riding the pine in the Canadien football league .

Can only think that Solo being free to look elsewhere may mean Makasini is close to a contract. Hopefully!!
Would be a shame to lose Solo, as he seemed to be one who was progressing well before injury cut his season short. Should have still been development next year and it would have been fine. I know we both had hoped to see him potentially move to 2nd row too, but if it was necessary to keep Makasini or Large...then fair enough!

Considering how far our good players are behind the rest of the comp on fitness…
Matamua must really be an over achiever!!

Has Bateman been confirmed?

Wasn’t that the basis upon which he took Lachie under his wings and selected Lachie first game of season ?
Think there’s a bit of a difference between “training hard” and “leaving everyone else for dead” which is what Lachie (as an untested kid) did.

Funny, our squad seems always like a council road worker - when you ask them, they’ll convince you they couldn’t possible work any harder are running at 110%…
But when you watch them from the outside - they’re all just standing around.
Then one of our players goes to another club and tells anyone who’ll listen how much fitter they are and how much harder they train than the Tigers

I get Sullivan but if he does go I wonder who plays 7 in NSW CUP. I would think Latu is in the 17.

Tumeth will go it's a player option for 2025.

Naden surely Super League.

Matamua will get snapped up, has some potential.

Saukuru, doubt there will be too many takers. Probably cost us $150k.

Eiden Ackland
Adam Douihei
Iverson Matai
Bailey Hodges
James Valevatu

Possible options, although none are outright halfbacks.

Perhaps if Latu doesn't make the 17, he plays 7 in cup. Unless we land a different option.

All on less than Bud.
Yeah I don’t mind Latu getting full games as the reggies 7 but I would prefer to fit him in the NRL team.

Hey I like Marcelo Montoya’s name, saying it quickly with a Mex accent sounds like a Mex Drug Lord. 😎

Fainu is a great second rower, I said when we signed him that was his spot.
Why would you move him, he competes in the air on kicks, is a damaging runner, needs a bit of work on his defence though
I agree. I love him out wide too. I just think he could also be better than any middles we have. There wasn’t many dominant middles available. He has a big motor, is aggressive and is quite large. If we need middle dominance he could have been our man. There are many ways to skin a cat.
