Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Normally through the course of a season you find a player or two that are coming up through the reserve teams that just look 'ready' to push into the 1st grade squad. Not particularly concerned about the KOE backs, but looking at the forwards, there is really only a couple of names to even consider- Johannssen, Sukkar & Kit Lualili'i.

Since returning from 1st grade, Rueben Porter's numbers dropped off considerably.

The big concern is the defensive numbers of our KOE forwards. Large chunks of missed tackles. It could be that the team was just so poor that it effected everyone. But there are games where Johannssen misses 4 tackles, Kit misses 3-4 tackles. Only Sukkar &, surprisingly, Tumeth don't show up with particularly bad defensive efforts. It is clear to me that the key in KOE is to build stronger defensive players. Whoever is brought in, needs to offer better resistance. Jaxson Rahme & Vako Aho hopefully can help strengthen the middle.

Until these young guys can show defensive resilience, I'm not sure they are 1st grade options. Johannssen is possibly the closest, with impressive offensive output. A little bit of quality added in the KOE, particularly good defensive options, should hopefully help the development of the young guys & have them actually earning their opportunities going forward.

who do you think we should sign ? im curious just to get gauge on the type of middle you like . For me , i know hes not available , but id choose Rueben Cotter , and Faamueaesi . I think the days of the behemoth are dead . welll everyone not named payne hass . hes a unicorn .
Yeah you’ve named 2 very good ones there, Carrigan is another and Murray.
Workaholic machines.
Lots of tackles, lots of meters, agility and can ballplay.
We have potentially two very good ones in Fonua Pole and Sam Fainu.

It’s near certain Richo has at least had a conversation regarding Tass and he’d be a good recruit at the right price, but even when he was going great with Souths a season or two back, I still remember him coming up with a bad defensive miss every now and then.
Tass heavily favours playing left centre, so is potentially blocked if Olam keeps healthy.
Optic defends ok, but was very slow for an NRL centre 2 years ago, he would only be slower now.
In reference to Balmain Boy the McLean brothers are on long term contracts with the Panthers and Ali Leiataua is not available until 2026, he will be a high priority re-signing for the Warriors.
These players were just those playing Cup last week who'd be on similar salary to AD and would provide better value than Adam does for us next year.

I would be looking at Campbell Gillard for 2 year x $ 650
he still goes well and plays big minutes
Tigers aren't interested in him apparently. I'm assuming it's because his manager has said they are only interested in a 3 year deal and i dont think Tigers would want him for that long.
I thought it was a case of RCG saying ''thanks but no thanks'' to the Tigers

I'm sure Richo has moved onto the next target after big Red.

My concern is who is our new coaching staff as we sure need to have this fixed ASAP. We need them organised so they can work out a plan for the off season as this is a massive year ahead. Unless he has them locked in but waiting for their team to finish for the year..
Other clubs had already announced it and also announced the players leaving.

Hohepa Puru from the Raiders, Mat Croker from the Knights & go get Jack Hetherington from the Knights as well.

Or, if the Frizzell rumours have any basis, bring him in for either Croker or Hetherington & let Sam Fainu rotate into the middle during games as well.

Knights & Raiders forwards = no frills, get the job done types.

I'd be good if Kobe Hetherington came in, but I prefer Puru.

Low cost fliers on Joe Stimson & Jacob Alick-Wiencke.

3 or 4 of those names would strengthen the squad nicely.
Jack Hetherington has extended with the Knights I believe
