Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Klemmer 2.0 imo. Besides, he looks headed for the Broncos.
I only like him as he seems to play most games , min injury so he is tuff but also plays long minutes , with Hunt being 15/20 min max we need a prop who can play first full 40 then another 20 then as teams wear down bring in our bash bloke for 20 , I hope we get at least 2 more big guys and another back rower asap , we want them on the job first day of pre season not I week before comp starts , get them to gel early and flog the guts out of them all in pre season

Beats me how those dopes get media gigs, personality of a soggy Sao.

Lets all start taking footy advice from Sharon, one of the lowest IQ individuals I've ever spoken to. Although I did like him in The Sixth Sense, good movie.

The bloke couldn't tell you what day it was, I wouldn't bother asking him to count to 10.

Looking more like Chumlee every day. Looking for a spot on Pawn Stars perhaps?

Take money out and Klemmer is ok for an average experienced prop but has lost any semblance of leadership with us. The problem is the contract value being about 300% what it should be. That is criminal from a club that signed Russell packer.

Can only hope we wouldn't sign that deal today. 900k offer to Stef makes me a little unsure that all our issues are solved, but Richo at least taking steps in the right direction if recent figures shared here are true.
Yep of Richo offered $ 900 for Stef over 4 years he is as bad as the others , stefs deal is $ 700 x 3 I was told , not 100% sure if it’s correct but about right dollar wise

I wouldn’t pay Klemmer $450k a year personally

.. he offered him $800k a year and he signed for $700k … $100k difference between the minor premiers and spooners sounds good to me

At the time Richo made the offer of $800k he was probably a $650k imo prop at best so we were offering on potential & having him as a leading part of our renaissance. Over the following 2 months, his value dropped about $200k & showed what his internal fortitude is like. Good riddance and $800k well saved.

that’s not the point I am making… I am refuting the point I see here continuously that Richo supposedly offered $900k a year

Know how many tackles Klemmer missed in the last 6 weeks?

4. While making 113 tackles.

Fonua Pole in the last 6 weeks?

21 missed tackles, while making 146.

Klemmer missed 17 tackles all season, making 455. Pole, 64, making 536.

This is a team that cannot defend. This is why Klemmer has value. I like Pole- but the difference in opinion between Klemmer & Pole is light years apart.

Klemmer made 2,023m running this season. Pole, the better attacking player- 2,489m.

Pole made 1009 post contact metres to Klemmer's 846.

For reference, Utoikamanu had....990 post contact metres while missing 46 tackles, making 661.

Royce Hunt has made 1,010m, made 209 tackles & missed...22.

I would suggest that Klemmer is a victim of not being 'spectacular'. He doesn't make big, bustling charges, skittling 15 defenders & bursting through the line.

He also doesn't miss chunks of tackles through the middle that often resembles a freeway for opposition forwards.

"Experts" talk about the 1% plays. Ugly defensive stats, charges where you are running head long into an unwinnable contest. Staying in the contest. I wonder how many people take notice of these 1% plays when the opposition run through gaps left by Pole, Utoikamanu, Sione Fainu etc.

This team needs more David Klemmer's, to let the Sam Fainu, Pole, Hunt attacking abilities take effect. We can't win 61-60. We need to stop other teams from walking through the middle. Why do you think we are looking at defensive oriented #13's at the moment?

The thing I see with Hunt is he only plays 10-15 minute stints at the sharks which hides the fatigue. I suspect if he plays longer minutes next season like many want his missed tackles tally could sky rocket also

I don't think there are any props out there that significantly improve us without becoming problematic in the latter years of their contracts. RCG and Saifiti are both in that category.

IMO we're better off targeting someone for 2026 and see how Faagatu and Miller develop with another off season.

Use the few spots we have that bring something different like Kobe Hetherington and Montoya if we can get them.

Look he will probably look better with the correct profile of prop beside him. Wether he starts or not next season, he simply can’t play beside a prop of the same large profile ie Royce Hunt

All the more reason to load up on Klemmer, Twal, Hetherington types.
Yeah wouldn't surprise me to see Hunt & Twal as our starting props & let's say Kobe Hetherington at lock. Then Pole & Klemmer as our interchange props with Seyfarth as 3rd benchie for lock/backrow and TDS able to be 14.

Then the likes of big Jordan, Johannssen, Sione Fainu, Faagutu, Kit, Aho, Matamua??? in Cup.

Think we need another experienced prop on a T&T as cover. Hopefully no one else picks up Croker or Hola or Jordan Grant, so we can snaffle 1 on a T&T.

I don't think you can cookie-cutter how any one team does things & decide that will work for the Tigers. I know a lot of people want to go "The Bulldogs Way" and get more mobile forwards- but that doesn't explain why the Storm forwards work fine.

The club needs to build a defensive resolve. You can't build a defensive resolve with poor defensive players. The club needs to add guys that know how to defend, through the middle.

Or start with Klemmer, Twal, Seyfarth (second row) &, for the sake of the argument, Kobe Hetherington- and blunt the early offensive.

Then rotate Hunt, Pole, Sione Fainu throughout the game & attack tiring defenders. Many ways to skin the beast. Not all of them include spectacular plays.
