Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Why are coaches so insistent that edge back rowers have to play for 80 minutes each game ?
I think a combination of Jack Bird and Alex Seyfarth on our right edge would be very beneficial and a massive improvement on what we have had in recent times,
I understand the middles need rotating, but instead of using bench players for 5 or 10 minutes each game, surely we can get much higher energy and much better quality of interchanging an edge such as possibly Bird and Seyfarth ?

Lucky we got Hunt coming who can play big minutes in the middle …

Amirite ? 😂

I guess it depends on the quality available to you in your squad but they seem to have the job of supporting the halves in D.

How did (premiership and SOO winner) Madge go with our shitty roster and your very hard nosed approach? 4 wins.
came 9th first season?

also sezer galvin api bula was a better spine in my opinion then brooks mbye etc.

just my opinion.

madge just won origin too and kiwis ...

also mate -- i should say i loved benji the player - he gave us so many amazing memories ... and benji the person seems like a great guy.... i'm just knocking the coach bc of how we have been performing both when he was coach last year with sheens in the background and this year. We have won two wooden spoons with Benji the coach. Everyone said benji was coaching the team last year with sheens.

I will admit that without benji we dont sign luai that's for sure.

I am PRAYING that he proves me wrong and we start strong next year so we can extend galvin and he's our next coach for the next ten years. that would be a dream. I just dont think it will happen. IMHO

Well it took Benji until the last 2 rounds to work out that Seyfarth is the only player in our current squad that can hold his own defensively on the right edge. Unfortunately by the last round we were depleted by injuries and some of our better players were physically and mentally cooked.
We need to find a way to terminate Bateman’s contract, he makes our team worse when he plays.
Seyfarth played on the edge in previous years and was diabolical . Something has happened this year , maybe he’s clicked with his positioning , or maturity in conserving energy , I dunno , but no one was saying he was an edge back rower the previous years he was trialled there . It’s another happy accident .

By the way.. that 4 wins was in 13 rounds..

Compare that to the 10 wins in the 70 or so rounds since he has been sacked.. Madge didn't even get a go with his first proper big money recruitments in Api & Papali'i.

Thats not me saying Madge is our solution, I don't know how I feel about the suggestion. I do know that he would of gotten a lot more than 10 wins in this time though... but maybe we would of kept Brooks and not signed Luai? 😂

Potential starting pack for 2025;
Klemmer and RCG/Saifiti play the first 20-25 minutes at prop then replaced by Hunt and Pole.
Jack Williams/Kobe Hetheriington play the first 25-30 minutes at 13 then replaced by Latu Fainu.
Jack Bird plays the first 25-30 minutes at right edge then replaced by Alex Seyfarth.
That is 4 substitutions so far.
At around halftime or 50mins Api replaced by Jack Williams/Kobe Hetherington meaning either they play hooker, or they play 13 with Latu playing gooker.
At 55-60 minutes the props again get substituted.
That is 7 substitutions so far.
At around 60 minutes Bird is back on for Seyfarth.
At around 65-70 minutes Api is back on for Latu.
That is 9 subs with one spare for anything unplanned.

Please just stop.. with every post you make I see you become more and more deluded.

I don't think you could spot talent If it smacked you in the face.

Someone needs to put you in jail for suggesting that Hunt and Pole should be on the field at the same time instead of rotating with eachother.

Why would you waste 2 maybe even 3-4 bench rotations on edge back rowers , wheee much like centres they can spend chunks of the game with the ball on the opposite side of the field not doing much .
It’s very rare for the ball , both in defence and attack to not engage the middle third in 2-3 plays . Which means they’re constantly working constantly moving , constantly closing down gaps , cobstantly running lines constantly actually taking hit ups , constantly tackling etc. And because everyone in the middle is soo massive , they also have to be massive To deal with the collision . And then you have the issue if you do play a middle more minutes day 80 mins a a game for 5 years , you’ve shortened the lifespan of a weapon middle like one Jason Taumalolo . Thats the cautionary tale with overplaying middles . People forget just how dominant he was up until the last 2 years . He should have had his minutes chopped to 60 a long time ago.
There’s are factors in why the middles take up the majority of the allowable replacements I believe it’s 8 now . So 2 off (maybe 3) at 20-30m , swapped back around at 60 mins (on average ) that’s now 4-6 of your 8 replacements gone . You now have max 4 , more likely 3 replacements you can make across 2 other bench players and the rest of your team .
chuck in injuries , unless they’re caused by foul play , they don’t count as a replacement , and if you get 2 Hias you can activate the 18th man , but that’s not until 15 mins after the player has been taken off so that’s not that handy either .
Generally speaking there’s probably 1 bench rotation you might have spare at the end of the game . Which is why we were chucking Mason in for a cameo .
The HIA rule has thrown the cat amongst the pigeons re. Bench rotation , and I honestly believe the more teams treat it with the respect of an F1 pit stop , and all the strategy that goes into that , the closer they are to having fresh troops at the end of the game .
That’s a really long answer to your question

You keep naming new players , yet all the players here under contract tell everyone who wants to listen thst they are coming back next year 😎

You better get used to it as I’m 💯 certain they will be on the field at the same time regularly in 2025.
