Not that simple.

All clubs go through phases where they're flush with spaces some years and more full others.

We're flush with money this year, but short on spots due to past management decisions.

There'll be years where it's the complete opposite.

(Though no team should ever be as clogged as we are at the present time; that's been a giant cock-up).

If there's a lick of truth to it, the journalists would have their wedges and mallets ready and be frothing at the mouth to write a pre-season hit piece...

It’s hard for any of us to really know without knowing the full circumstances, but I’ve been in plenty of workplaces and sporting clubs where the boss or coach basically ignores staff or players they don’t think are performing or capable of performing to the level they are expecting.
It is very frustrating when a boss/coach doesn’t feel like the message to improve standards is getting through, but it never ends well for the entire team and damages the morale if the boss/coach is not capable or not wanting to work hard and put plenty of time into the team members/players that are falling short of expectations.
Case point with players such as Bateman, Sullivan and Naden amongst others that are apparently digging their heels in and refusing to leave.

I'd be shocked if 3/4 of this Roster wasn't signed by Benji....

He's here for 3 more years.

Yes, short on spots due to past management decisions.

Benji isn't management. He's head coach.

And whilst he would've most likely had a (heavy) say in contracts for the past 2 years, there were other key stakeholders present that would've, if not been the final sign-off, at least had heavy input as well. If Benji, as a rookie head coach, had immediate right to veto or approve any and all signings that has led to the current squad situation, then that, too, is a failure of past management.

Sheens as former head coach/director of football, Pascoe as CEO and Fulton as recruitment officer all would've played key roles in the squad formation.

That statement was specifically referring to the role (or lack thereof) Shane Richardson has played in the formation of the current squad, specifically as it pertains to the lack of roster spots.

And, as I've stated, to the extent that Benji had COMPLETE control of the squad formation, then that, too, is a failure of past management.

They know there's no one holding out another year for him, They want him on the market now and get negotiating a deal to send him off...
And hopefully get out of it without losing any cash,

Can't see it being that easy for them.

There'd be almost a dozen blokes on the Website that hit the Squad just this year - Plenty of them with not much output (That's not past management)

Ignoring the facts hardly makes them 'Lazy'
