Replying late. Edwards and Yeo predominantly. Leotta takes a 5th in yardage too. The goal is for the 5th carry to find their front, and provide a QPTB so there is less pressure on kicker on the last. Compare this to WT who get some really slow PTBs on 5th, so then the kick ends up a poor one.
My point was replying to a poster who said the props should take tackle 4 and 5 after the wingers 2 and 3. Penrith will go the whole set in yardage without either prop taking a carry, but if they do, it would only be the 5th. They take their time getting back behind the ruck, particularly early matches.
In yardage, they’ll generally go T1. Edwards, T2-4 OBs/edge back rowers. 5. Edwards, Yeo, or opposite side edge back rower to Cleary’s kick. Generally this is Sorensen, as Martin has a great kick-chase and can nail the winger who defuses the kick.
Generally though, there’s a method to how they approach their attacking yardage sets depending upon the plan for their transition into defence. The goal at the end of the day is to start the opposition attacking yardage set inside their 10.
