Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Another good player handicapped by this club culture.
Well we’ve wrecked his % wins!

He was another victim of Ivan’s footy cancel culture and the word on the street is that he came for the cash.

The panther cancel culture is that unless you’re in with the Ivan, off you go.

And frighteningly, it’s worked!

He doesn’t even look happy being captain despite his wonderful talents.

3 years ago i would have been delighted to get Gutho even though he is a first class flog, these days i wouldn't want him even at a discount
Swear it’s every weekend I see gutho with his hands on his hips blaming others when he’s taken on the responsibility of not only fullback, but captain. Maybe I miss stuff and I’m blinded by these moments, but don’t think we should even be entertaining this idea of gutho, especially with our forward pack

Pascoe could find a lemon and loved announcing their representative history to us. They would never play reps again.
i don't blame Pascoe for signing McQueen...
Actually yes I do a little. He should have been on the watch for such a signing.

I am still a little unclear if it was a Taylor call or a Cleary call.

From memory the injury happened as we were about to sign McQueen. We could have dropped him cold and maybe made it into the 8.

It shows the culture of our club who sticks by players and really puts the effort in. Contrasted with clubs like the flight deck which treat players awfully, yet get a lot more loyality. ... i don't get it.

Other then injury which can't be helped I don't understand the To'a hate on this forum. Had a really good season in 23 and everytime he came back he obviously was still injured which speaks to the club not managing it well more then him. Will be starting centre in 25 if he avoids injury in the off-season.
I don't think it's any particular dislike of To'a, to be honest.

I think what we have here is To'a, Doueihi, Naden, Faataape & to a lesser extent Staines & Feledy all fighting out for what, really, should be 1 or 2 players spot.

If our starting centres next season are Olam & Bird, and your back-ups are Faataape & Doueihi, or Naden & To'a, or any other combination of 2 of the 4- you have good depth.

When you have 4 guys on relatively similar playing status, fighting for 2 back-up/fringe spots- you start thinking about value. To'a & Naden are the 2 most expensive of the 4. Makes sense that these would be the guys you look to move on.

The only thing that changes that is if one of them is scheduled to start- but then you still need to shift at least one of them. This isn't even taking into account low-cost Feledy being held back from playing time.

And that raises the bigger issue- a fringe 1st grade player is being relied upon to start. Of the 4, Doueihi is probably the most talented- and versatile. For mine, he's easily the better value player.

And probably the worst defender. Which, in that bunch, is a fair effort.

Looking at that list you've combined for our centre depth, it's remarkable we wouldnt have one backup who can tackle - even a little bit.

What are u talking about he played one great game against the cowgirls and two other good games. The rest were below average to average. I don’t call that a very good season.

So what do we think team, has Miller no longer got a contract with us?

Name on the bench for Fiji.

Image below on WT website.

Link to article below. Absolutely no mention of Miller. References Ipap who is leaving. Turuva coming & lower grades players but no Miller. I assume he's gone.

There was this in Buzz’s column on Sunday. Hope it’s not related.

Which rising youngster is about to be sacked from his club? His top 30 deal is set to be ripped up because of off-field issues.

I have no idea if it is him or not but i will always back the club if they sack players for off field antics because it will always be multiple offences no matter who they are (Lodge and Suli perfect examples). You don't need dheads in the club especially if you have a lot of young blokes who could be led astray

think it was a mark cuban quote, he won’t go drafting a guy who will go out and party, drop 30/5/8 the next day, but bring 4/5 teammates despite having all the talent in the world, but go for the player with character and prevent the others from going out (and most likely still talented). Will try and find it (famous last words 😂)
