Cricket Season Thread

You were asked who you would pick, you said:

"Konstas, Harris, Whiteman all with centuries. Can't see them throwing a 19 year old into T1 against a dominant Indian attack and Whiteman has also never played test cricket."

Doesnt that leave Harris?
Nah mate, definitely Bancroft eh šŸ™„šŸ¤£

Piss off.

Luckily I'm not (and neither is anyone else here) having to make the decision. I wouldn't really want to pick Harris either. The risk to Konstas is rushing him in and ruining his confidence if he fails a few times and then has to be dropped.

My main point was form from 3 years ago really doesn't mean a whole lot when recent form has been poor.
Ok fair call, you don’t wanna pick one just yet and lucky we don’t have to.
I guess I’m saying if I had to pick now, I’m picking Bancroft the ball cleaner, not for his form ā€œfromā€ three years ago but for his consistent form in shield over the last 3 years.
Also for his loyalty and devotion in ruining his career for one test win.
And yes I would rather we have a good experienced opener in the first test against the second best test team, but if Konstas is the only opener scoring big, what are you gunna do?šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø They won’t pick him anyway.

I had high hopes for Caleb Jewell but it's been lean for him since his impressive double century in Feb.

If forced to choose, I pick Konstas if he makes another decent (50+) score in his next outing.

Map of Taz player yeah?
I’d have to check him out again sorta forgot about him. Another name in the debate, good one. Bcoz Uzy will likely retire in the next season or so. The opening positions are up for grabs over the next couple of years I reckon, hopefully not longer than that. But all Ozy openers should be on notice and if I were one I’d be looking at it as a big opportunity bcoz once in it can be hard to get dropped. Interesting times at the top of the order. I’ll be back to ya after I remind myself of young Caleb.

Hey did you see the Raygun scarecrow in some scarecrow competition in Victoria somewhere? They have her doing the Kangaroo lock pose.

The other thing that people talking Konstas up was it was only South Australia who would have the weakest bowling attack of any state
Bit like scoring a hat trick against the WTs ....needs an asterisk to mark the non achievement
He gets runs v Victoria you can take notice

About a year after sandpaper gate didn't Bancroft do an interview where he dropped a little bit of vague innuendo implying our big 3 quicks were also involved .
Nothing came of it but as the saying goes you throw a little mud and some sticks
Cant remember exact words but if there was a hint of this I can't imagine some team regulars that happy to have him back
I agree he did show some good form last year and year before but was never picked
Any connection ?

Watching India vs NZ in Bangalore
India 5-33 but this wicket is a horror pitch that's so damp that bowlers footmarks very deep in first hour .Ball seaming ,and bouncing ripping into gloves
Think they had days of rain with day 1 washed out .
India winning toss and choosing to bat has to be one of the worst decisions in recent memory .
Lunch India 6-34 !
By contrast next door in Pakistan England and Pakistan have the usual flat lifeless pitch

A lifeless pitch? There have been over 20 wickets taken and it’s only the 3rd morning. And there was a result in the first test.
Same pitch that England got 823 but they dried it out to suit spinners
Big contrast India vs NZ - INDIA ALL OUT 46 !!!
by far their lowest ever score in India
Watching it Spinners not needed here as ball seaming and bouncing all over the place
In the Pakistan / England test in Multan note England only using 3 spinners
In the India / NZ test in Bangalore NZ only used 3 seamers ( this is a horror wicket )

Yeah I remember something about that and yeah I reckon they all knew.
