Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Peeps, may as well stop all this talk about signing player x or y…. We have no top 30 spots left nor any TT spots left for 2025…. What we have is what we’ve got….the likes of Bud, Naden, Bateman, Stains no club wants for 2025 without the WT paying > 50% of their contract… we are in dog doo roster ways
This could very well be true.

It's not exciting, but the way the club fills it's KOE team is extremely important. The more quality depth in the club, the better the team is able to handle form drops, injuries etc.

Those T&T contracts etc are very important to get right.

Actually Liam Martin is similar frame but is 10kg heavier. He also debuted at 21. Tumeth is 21 now.
I appreciate you want to support Tumeth but he will never tie Martin's boot laces. I'd say in 3 or 4 years time most will have forgotten his name. No sly against the kid, I'm sure he's a good person, if you infact know him personally.

I don’t know him personally. It’s not about Tumeth there is no connection there. It is about the fact we’ve debuted and rejected kids years in age before the top clubs have even given them time in reserve grade.
As I said, after debuting 2 years ago he is now the same age as Liam Martin when he made his debut. What’s to say if he didn’t get a go again in first grade next year he wouldn’t hold his own maybe if Bateman doesn’t want to get in the Crocodile role. Prehaps Tumeth would be keen to.
We’ve made our bed we need to stick with it I get we need a spot for Sione Fainu; sure move 1 on. But
On Tumeth or any of these other min wage players specifically that are off contract end of 25. If they are ready to sign with another club and do so come Nov1 that is a different story but if they are in fact willing to commit their efforts to the tigers we need players with that level of dedication.

I don’t get the dislike for Tumeth. He is most likely on a min wage top 30 contract anyway and was fit all season developing in Flegg as they should. Next year a full season of cup will have him ready to be called on. It’s like people think these guys aren’t interested in developing further. If he moves to another club he still has the goal in becoming a full time NRL player so why not keep him as a back up in our squad. At least he isn’t kicking stones for playing Flegg all year after his NRL debut 2 years ago.
He is a light weight forward

How many $$$ has Dragons got in their piggy bank, looks like they will be keeping Hunt and also dabbling in the possibility of getting two more, Clint Gutherson and giving a thought as to grabbing Josh Ado Carr,
Or at least talking about it.

We aren’t doing much talking about Nothing.

Tumeth got a top 30 contract was it earnt probably not, was it based on potential probably not, was it a good deal struck with agent and previous management yes it was. So who is to blame for that?? not the player if the club was reasonable than cop the loss and bad press and move on, the longer this lingers it is just another black eye we earn as a club.

I'm trying to dissect your last sentence like Nicholas cage in national treasure 🤔🤔🤔

Another backrower I thought would be worth a look now off the market …

Courtesy of Daily Tele: At the Dolphins, back-rower Connelly Lemuelu won’t hit the open market after he agreed to a new one-year contract. Lemuelu was set to talk with rival clubs come November 1, but the Dolphins have ensured that will not happen by locking him down until the end of 2026.

I disagree

That's Ok
- You're in a (very small) minority round here that thinks he'll go on to be something....
I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the 'Tumeth' Style back Rowers that have had a top 25/30 Spot at this club and gone on to nothing much outside a few games for Wests Tigers.
Most of them junior Rep Stars / Captains of Junior Sides, I've seen nothing from him that indicates he'll kick on
Although, I wish him all the luck in the world...

I can promise you,
If there was a 21 yr old back rower with infinite potential (As you suggest) languishing in reserve grade...
There'd be a buzz around the game trying to get him to another club.
The only people that know Tumeth still exists are Tigers fans, Mostly here.

Martin was stuck behind a few decent players at Panthers (Hence the late Debut) Yeo, Kikau, were the young blokes a couple years ahead of him.

Seriously - Dragons have signed Damon Cook and Val Holmes while losing Lomax and likely Hunt. That's much worse then us

Will come back to this post when we offloads some players and make the signings.

Interested to see how Richo and Benji go about filling a 2nd row spot in 2026. You would think we will be in the market for 1 player in that position come November 1. Do we pay bigger $$$ and go after a KPP/Nikora type, go for an NRL level player on average coin (but not a superstar) or maybe pick up an experienced 2nd rower towards the end of their career allowing the likes of Broederlow, Godinet and other youngsters a chance to learm from them and earn a place down the track.

I reckon Harrison Hassett is probably on the way from the Panthers. Seems likely given the agent and where he is in the Penrith 2nd row pecking order.

I thought so too, but Will Craig staying might mean things have changed. The rumours were they were going in opposite directions.
