Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Why is everybody down on Sukkar before hes had a chance to prove himself in firstgrade he could possibly solve our backrow problem hes 105 kg and runns a good line and can tackle.
How many times have you ever watched him play?

I've seen him dozens of times between Matts, Ball, Flegg and Cup, and his NRL appearance too.

He's just always been a plodder these past few years. At a younger age he looked better because he was bigger than others. What i always liked most about him was his goal-kicking. Which for a forward isn't the number one trait you're after.

I think people get excited by "impactful plays"- and like you, I think nobody is immune to getting carried away by it.

This is the "Klemmer sucks/Twal sucks" vs "We must sign Royce Hunt" argument all over again.

You need a good mix of players in the squad. It's not a bad thing to have guys that can be trusted to make the tackles, fill the hole & take the unforgiving hitup.

Just like you need to have a handful of guys that make defenders worry about getting trampled.

Just like we need that one aspect we are still missing- intimidation.
Thing is we a have a pack full of solid nuffies, who make tackles and soft hit ups. What our pack lacks are powerful line breaking players. We have Fainu, that's it. So given we already have a dozen workers his spot really needed to go to an impact player. If you can't break the line you don't score....

Not many players out there aside from the well established stars who do play aggressively and intimidate.
It is like finding a needle in a haystack to find a young player who plays aggressively and has the aerobic capacity high energy style of play to go with it.

We have HUNT for 15 minutes just need to score then and hold on for the next 65 minutes

He’s twal 2.0

The sooner we get rid of twal the sooner we make the 8

Don’t think since he’s started we’ve made it

Plodder

Like Sukkar

No personality , no fierceness, no intimidation - just another lumbering lebbo who runs into a brick wall and doesn’t make a dent

And yes - I can say lebbo bc I’m quarter lol.
Personally I think the problem with Twals been that they’ve tried to turn him into an impact forward which he’s the furthest thing from. If you start him & play him big minutes that’s where you get his best footy.

I like Fa'agutu & am equally disappointed he's been moved on.

But, as we have discussed previously- Kit Lualili'i, Matamua & Fa'agutu are all in the same age bracket, position & roughly similar body types. Kit is obviously popular at the club for various reasons & Matamua might be held in higher regard than people realise.

I would imagine it's simply a numbers game & Fa'agutu probably has options back in Brisbane to move easily into.

If the rumours of Kobe Hetherington being chased are true- that would only further push these guys down the pecking order.

And that doesn't include Bird potentially playing #13 or even Latu/Galvin playing that role at some point too.

We are well stocked for young options at #13.

Can't keep them all.
I can’t agree we are well stocked with 13 , this is a very important position, we need a experienced player not a up and comer

It's just bullshit negative hyperbole - best to ignore!
It was a joke. He was used for short stints at the Sharks as they had a decent forwards rotation.

I am sure he can get more minutes in and that is where the Strength and Conditioning of the team needs to improve for the whole squad.

He can bend the line and is solid in defence which Stefano was not with his lateral movement.

I think you skipped the vital "young" options part of my statement. There are an abundance of young players coming through that play #13.

Don’t get this 15 minute stuff, can’t we put him on for 15 either side of the half? Or something close to that? Never played footy so please don’t come for my neck
Mate u are been told crap , the reason he only played short minutes was because the sharks had a heap of forwards and the used him as a wrecking ball , he should be able to get 20 minutes each half if that’s what benji wants
