Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Matamua & Saukuru look very similar don't think he is there.

Still believe he has a contract just not lodged yet.

It would leaked to the media via Tartak if he didn't. He'd want his player to be signed. The silence is obvious.

I like Fa'agutu & am equally disappointed he's been moved on.

But, as we have discussed previously- Kit Lualili'i, Matamua & Fa'agutu are all in the same age bracket, position & roughly similar body types. Kit is obviously popular at the club for various reasons & Matamua might be held in higher regard than people realise.

I would imagine it's simply a numbers game & Fa'agutu probably has options back in Brisbane to move easily into.

If the rumours of Kobe Hetherington being chased are true- that would only further push these guys down the pecking order.

And that doesn't include Bird potentially playing #13 or even Latu/Galvin playing that role at some point too.

We are well stocked for young options at #13.

Can't keep them all.
Miss managed in my opinion! Thrown from grade to grade week in week out. Not great way to get continuity. I just don’t reckon the pathway is clear for these talented players coming through. Like keeping them together through the grades create that winning culture as they move through the grades together!! All I see is split up, up and down inside out. Just don’t see good signs in their management.
Hopefully it all works out, and they cut there own path.

To someone who is not in the know, it is very confusing as to how we develop young players. Faagutu’s development has been all over place as you say, but others have also said he’s been playing out of position at prop to. Maybe some consistency with a few games in the same team, in the position he played well at as a junior, and we might see him actually develop.
Even with Galvin, it sounds like we had know idea what we had.

Sydney Roosters star Terrell May is preparing to launch legal action against online fan groups spreading ‘damaging’ rumours in the wake of the shock revelation that he is unwanted at the Bondi club.
This masthead understands that Terrell’s manager David Rawlings and his lawyers have issued three cease and desist notices to popular Facebook supporter groups in recent days.

May’s team is preparing to take further legal action against at least one of the NRL fan pages on social media.

May was sensationally tapped on the shoulder last week by the Roosters, telling the 25-year-old he is free to explore the open market about an immediate move away from Bondi just six months after he agreed to a two-year extension.

The shock development sent the rumour mill into overdrive, creating speculation that coach Trent Robinson’s willingness to offload May had to do with off-field issues rather than a desire to reshape his roster.

One rumour falsely implicated May’s teammate and his partner.

Rawlings told this masthead that May is prepared to hold online trolls to account.

“The business transactions of rugby league often end up in the public domain, and of course where there is limited information on hand it’s natural to speculate,” Rawlings said.

“However, when speculation becomes reputable and personally damaging – we won’t tolerate it.

In September an NRL player poll survey by News Corp Australia, in partnership with the RLPA, revealed around 14 per cent of players still face either racial or targeted abuse.

May is currently touring England with the Samoan side but is expected back in Australia on Wednesday. Rawlings and May will meet later this week to discuss his options on the open market.

May won’t be short of options in trying to find a new home with three Sydney clubs already reaching out to his manager to express interest in his service for 2025 and beyond.

Clubs like the Wests Tigers, Canterbury and St George Illawarra are among the clubs in the market for a middle forward.

Newcastle is shaping as an option for May if the Knights fail to lock-in forward Leo Thompson, who is one of the most sought after free agents on the market.
Please keep this in mind. Rumours about signings are all well and good, but the pages of "rumour" about a player's behaviour are not. Please stay on topic.

I think I’m mistaken re spotting Fainu.
Samulea was also there and he is not in any photos.
Regardless. Looking back on last years socials, it was noted that Charlie Stains signed a new deal on Nov 21 (21 days after being without a contract) so I’m not sure what he was doing at the start of the preseason training but he was soon spotted about midway through November.
Have faith I guess; we know we have a couple of spots available as of now.

Not one word said?? There’s been 100 articles about it in the last week lol. Roosters have told him he is free to leave just like we have with Naden, Bateman, Sullivan etc. Only difference is he’s actually a good player & not overpaid so he is chased by every club with a bit of money. Meanwhile we will have to pay to see any of those players mentioned leave
Yep, plenty of articles, agreed, and they all seem to imply he is gone. By nothing he said I mean it’s nothing to see here by any of the media. We try and do the same and our player is taking us to court. Roosters (and others like Dogs) just seem to tap players on the shoulder and they accept it. Ours did their heels in and say they’re staying.

Dogs are literally going to court against one of their players

If this is true what the hell is left for us , the dogs just can’t keep signing players , the players they have will then be well down the pecking order I guess
They'll sign Addo-Carr now he is a free agent, just because they can 🤭

Not many players out there aside from the well established stars who do play aggressively and intimidate.
It is like finding a needle in a haystack to find a young player who plays aggressively and has the aerobic capacity high energy style of play to go with it.
Rubbish.
Every single other club has such players not only in their NRL lineup but often coming through the grades too. And I'm not talking intimidators, just able to make a line break. We have one player across 3 grades.
