Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Really what has Richo done , and I am not saying about months ago , I am more interested in the last couple of months , yes he picked up bird and hunt , but really they are not high work rate forwards , so many forwards have come and gone in the last couple of months , but we haven’t snared any , if we don’t get MAY or lodge I just wonder what the he’ll is he waiting for , pay out the kids who hold spots and won’t ever make 1st grade and start getting in some heavy duty forwards
What has he done in the last couple of months?

- As you said, signed Bird and Hunt.
- Opened up 2 roster spots through the sacking of Miller and the payout of Fa'agutu.
- Entered talks with both Hetherington and May. The former of which was ultimately denied a release (so far) by his current club and the latter being yet to make a decision.
- Given 5 players official warnings regarding pre-season return fitness, therefore establishing baseline standards that seem above what we've seen in the past.
- Continued discussions around moving on further players considered surplus to requirements including Sullivan, who has been confirmed as being rejected by Saints for a homecoming and Bateman to Manly, which sounds like it's still to play out.

Should I go on?

No, I'm not.

You were hyperbolic in your original assessment that 'fitness is everything'. That is categorically incorrect. Your rewording is testament to that.

Now, by making that a statement such as 'fitness is important' is hardly revolutionary and probably not worth mentioning,

If your response is to call someone a dickhead when you are (rightly) corrected for an inaccurate statement, I suggest you need to revisit your capacity to have grown-up conversations.

Be accurate.

Payne Haas came out and said the Bronco's training standards had dropped in 2024, they went from grand finalists to missing out on the 8 completely. Fitness is everything it's why Penrith are so good. And to the bloke who said imagine being told by Richo you're not fit enough when he looks like a walrus, what absurd logic.

He mentioned that the overwhelming metric that is used by Penrith for recruitment and retention is Fitness.

This points to self discipline and hard work ethic which are essential to succeed

More to this, maintaining or even improving fitness, strength in the off season speaks to a players motivations. Players who can generate that intrinsic motivation to improve without having to be directly supervised or have extrinsic threats or rewards hanging over their heads are far more likely to succeed. Its all about the process, rather than outcomes

Credit where it’s due .., A few months back ..you actually predicted they would go down this tougher preseason route.., and that they would be prepared to use it to force guys out of the club.. 👍…can’t remember anyone else agreeing with you at the time ..

let’s hope that they can actually get some of the malcontents off the team before the season starts …
