What do you consider a crap offer? 600-650 is pretty reasonable if he’s on about 475 now. I doubt many teams will offer him more than that.
 
Probably already raised here I imagine but how can next season work out with Klemmer? Needs to play 14 games to trigger his 2026 contract year. Are WT going to do this? Probably not due to supposed coin which will be earned. And we may need him for more than 14 games in 2025 if we are making a fist of it. Stupid contracts from an inept previous management.

Havent you been saying over and over that May isnt coming? Why would it bother you what people would offer him?

I said I wansn't absolutely sure, over the next two years. I think Burton will probably be better than Fainu in 2025, but by 2026 I'm much less sure. To be fair, that's an optimistic take - I really like the look of Fainu.
But whatever, I'll concede the point - their best is a safer pick than our third best. I still wouldn't take either Burton over either of our starters and if you offered me the corpse of Ben Hunt as a swap for either of ours I'd ask if you'd like me to arrange a mental health check.

i can't see Klem making the quota.Just out of spite from the club to free up cash,unless somehow, they restructure his contract mid year

I've got no problem with offering him 'overs'. Until we get a team that is capable of winning everfy week and challenging for titles we will have to pay more than the top clubs. Once we get 'there', things will change,
I'd guess Cronulla had to pay overs until they dragged themselves out of the rut. I'll bet they don't now.

Seyfarth and possibly Sione Fainu will also get a run in the middle. He contract clause is strange no club will lock themselves into another year for an ageing veteran slowing down on big money.

Very much so . I think based on form most people with a rational look at the game , would say may is far more of a chance to give you value for money at the 650-700k mark than stefano was at the 800k mark . Chuck in Royce , who seems to be the forgotten man in all this , and tell me 1.1mil for Royce and may isn’t an absolute massive upgrade over stefano on 800-900k .
If Richo pulls it off , somehow we’ve gone from a weaker pack transitioning from ‘23 to ‘24 , to having a far superior one .
I think even Bateman might not be as big of a Dick when he gets here .
Funny what a few weeks can do in this sport .

When making those sorts of clauses, you usually are coming from a position of strength by telling the player “you’ll need to perform that season. No free ride”. Yet, the dope who green lit the clause probably didn’t count on the fact we’d have zero depth in that position, and he’d be our number 1 prop.
