Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Don’t agree, he has been improving very year. Not every player can be a superstar, you need low priced depth players. All clubs have them.
You just repeated my point, in a different way. Top 17 and top 30 players are very different.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see Johannssen kill it and become a first grade regular. But it seems to be a common occurrences to hype up a guy after some good performances in Cup and a game or two in NRL.

We’ve seen plenty of others do the same in Cup and never really stand out in NRL. I also can’t see him getting many games with May, Klemmer, Twal, Hunt, Pole and Sione F (likely) all in the top 30 and ahead of him in the pecking order.

Just think it’s silly to be placing so much hype on a guy so early into his journey. It’s very premature. Let him string a few consecutive NRL games together first.
He's not even on a development contract in 2025, he can't play until mid way through the season at the earliest. There's no expectation he will dominate NRL next year, just that it's good to say last have a forward with potential in our system

Doesn’t he also have a kid in England?
I would presume his kid is with his wife...?!

I was wondering that very thing, but it would good if players like JL and Api didn’t have the extra responsibility of GK as well.
Totally agree. Would be good for Api / Luai to be the fall back kickers if really needed, not first off. Have to say finding background stat's on such things all but impossible.

Completely agree, but I’m hoping with some success and competition he’ll go to another level.

Also, I think he’s better than Olam can be now. Not better than Olam has been in past.
Could argue the point.

Instead would love someone like Toa to prove everyone wrong and outshine Turuva, Olam or Bird. Also happy for those three to shine and do the talking on the field. Be good if the rest of our backline wannabe's stood up.

We have some real choices in the back. Hope Benji makes them work hard and we get some real competition for selection. Lets see our players stand tall, defend hard and Cross the line.

Yeah I used to read a lot of stat sites. I don’t play fantasy but they have good websites with good current stats and I like to win tipping comps, But since I got sick I couldn’t be bothered spending the extra time. @Tucker and his stat posts have been a good read, I don’t have to do the leg work. Thanks for those to btw Tucker.
It would be good to have GK stats on our current top 30 and maybe the next group coming through. It’s something I think NRL teams and players could be better at. A goal is worth 50% of a try and the only skill it takes is to kick a ball straight. There’s been plenty of park wingers that have played the top grade bcoz they can GK. Hi Ross. I can’t believe more average players don’t kick more, imagine if Nof GKed at 88%, Ii wouldn’t matter so much that he can’t count.

He doesn’t have a point as he’s claiming that Madge is vindictive, thin skinned and trying to out the knife in us which is just a flat out lie. He hasn’t come out and bashed the club despite having every reason to after the shit sandwich they handed him which I’ve already gone into detail about.

There’s a lot that went down at Souths that you can’t fault Madge for. Crowe driving Keary out, resigning Burgess for 1.5mil and forcing a lot of the GF winners out of the team etc

And which senior players? Because I doubt it was Inglis or Burgess, the two most senior players during his time there. Inglis re-signed roughly the same time Madge signed an extension. and my understanding is that he still has a good relationship with Sam Burgess and was one of the people pushing him to go into coaching.
Souths won 18 of Madge's last 52 games in charge, that is a damning stat with a stacked roster, he is no great club coach, he is best served in small doses as in NZ and NSW coach

Can the footy gods shine down on us and gift us a premiership in 2025. Heck I would be happy to make the 8 and build on it.

There was a domino effect, may signs, pole extends. Timing isn't a coincidence. Signing 1/2 players can make a massive difference.

SHOOSH II

Which player from a rival club stunned Brisbane officials when he nominated his asking price to replace Ezra Mam in the event that the Broncos five-eighth receives a lengthy ban.
