Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

Is any clause in a contract ridiculous? This seems like the kind of circumstance where if it got Luai over the line it is warrented.

I understand the Benji issue. Its pretty clear he was struggling last year. He will be accountable this year. I would argue that a coaching search for a mythical experienced coach would have been extremely destabilising, making it difficult to sign players and sort sponsorship, compared to the current really positive off. But thats my opinion, yours is different.

I don't think any of the points you have made make Richo "as bad as Pascoe" not even close. Based on a very narrow range of outcomes you are giving him a fail mark, we can agree to disagree.
These clauses have a habit of being activated in the NRL. At the very least it holds the club over a barrell.

I'm generally not a fan unless it's something in the clubs control, for example I'm not against a coach clause. If it is simply an option to go to market every year after 2 years, then it's not a great clause for us.

Once again, I want to know the exact details before passing judgement.

They are far from ideal. IMO It's a sliding scale though. On one end is a guy like Luai who has earnt the right to negotiate what he wants. The club probably had to agree to it to get him. I am at peace with that.

At the other end is the ridiculous Stef clause, or the one Onitoni Large (a 17 year old) requested. They are the ones the club won't be entertaining

Did Luai have clauses in Penrith contract? Give me the exact details please. Then I will judge. After 6 months. If im still alive.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if it's Isaac Moses. After all his star client Galvin is about to start negotiating and it's hard not to allow him to insert clauses into his contract if Luai has them. Plus how many people would know Bula was switching to Moses aswell as the details of his current contract.
You are 100% spot on…Issac Moses is bigger than Abdo and PVL with his influence in the game…and the NRL do nothing about it…

how much longer can we blame Lee and Pascoe ?

What a convenient scape goat they still are…. Time to cut that one loose
Mbye,.Packer 4 year deals.

Nofo 4 year deal over paid.

C'mon..Lee and Pascoe couldn't run a profitable brothel with the Victorian secret girls.

Lee trying to get on the media all the time was one of the biggest blights this club has ever had.

So another year or two at least I reckon Seano?

Because Moses is known for being ruthless and the best at getting the most money for his clients
I feel he makes a mess of clubs, though. All good to get your player the best deal, but clubs at the pointy end of the table have well balanced rosters.

Would be interesting to have a bit of a timeline of which clubs Isaac has sunk his teeth deep into through managing the coach or controlling a high percentage of the players and see whether any of those teams ever got close to a premiership.

Honestly, I would be happy to see Bula leave. He’s in the bottom third of fullbacks currently and is on $700k+. He just lacks that desire to be involved. It’s a shame O Large left (he didn’t want to play fullback anyway) and Mikey Nasser also left. I believe either would have been gun fullback replacements in time.

If the nrl can figure out a way to bring him down a peg or 2 , he is going to get the Scott Boras treatment . There will be a lot of clubs with a grudge .
For those who don’t know Scott Boras is a MLB agent , who is the won who got most of those 300mil 10 year deals from about 10 years ago . Where nearly all of them had an old man in year 9 of that contract riding the bench for his club . He was notorious for being a shark and ruthless like Isaac Moses .
Now clubs freeze him out , and many won’t even negotiate with him . He’s had to eat a lot of humble pie in the last couple of years .
