What a poorly written article, He made it a lot more confusing than it needed to be by trying to be funny. Made no mention of the restructure to the board, got the ownership percentages completely wrong and didn't even get the name of the owners right.

I seem to have a memory that the Balmain club pokie licences were transferred to wests premises to add to their revenue stream. Could be wrong 🤷

They have been, however poker machine laws are complicated and for every 2 the club removes only 1can be returned, something like that, so with Balmain Leagues already shut prior to the HBG absorption Wests Ashfield don't get the rights for all of them, and with the pandemic protocols for social distancing every second MC was removed from the club and not returned.

Wests have far fewer pokies in operation at WA now in comparison to prior the pandemic.

As luck would have it, the absorption of Balmain Leagues into HBG occurred in 2019 just a few months before everything changed.

As one can see, Sydney is in a race to the bottom night-life wise, entertainment wise since covid and obviously that is complicating planning for the rebuild of the former Balmain Leagues.

The way things are now they have to get it right otherwise it could threaten the whole group.

Never mind every other fan , because apparently there’s a guaranteed 20 odd thousand fans waiting tfor the tigers to change the name back to magpies , and sell out Cambo .
I went to both sellouts at Cambo , and there was queues an hr long from people getting off the train and arriving from the Sydney Side of the ground . I came up on the other side , and got in straight away at the other entrance .
No matter how much logic you chuck at these toxic people , they don’t care . They want thier team back , and screw anyone else who’s invested time and money and loyalty into the new brand . So basically anyone who follows the club under really 30 years of age , as they would have been 5 circa 2000.
