Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We had 2 tied up under contract....

I don't disagree with letting them go,
I do disagree with letting them go with nothing in the Squad to replace them, and signing nothing
coming in on the back of them.

Been lots of 2nd Rower Options Since we lost Ice in May, And Bateman in July.
Can see your point, but when the opportunity presents itself to get rid of a player at full freight, like Ice, you can't twiddle your thumbs hoping to find the replacement because the deal might not be there once you've found them.

Same with Bateman.

It's not uncommon to make the space in the roster first and fill it later.

This is my thoughts , if we don’t get 1-2 backrowers by the end of January, we will struggle big time , we have the best backline , we have had in years , yet we have not filled our backrowers , after letting papa and Bateman walk , no wonder we have 3 wooden spoons

Dogs showed last year you can still compete with a strong backline and a middling pack if the belief is there. Reckon with the quality of Luai, and some of the young guys ready to take a leap there's real cause to feel optimistic even with some of the clear deficiencies. If we can jag some early wins and give these guys something to actually buy into, you'll see a few blokes playing above themselves

still think apart from the Luia our back line is weak.Luia could be the catalyst that lifts the whole side, with the unexpected all lifting a gear or 2.All ears for a development club ,but the grades are still stacked with nrl wanna b's.Fingers crossed Richo is here for the long haul

They all aren't so bad on paper, but there is only a few with killer instinct,2 in that team of yours,5 maybe;s rest follow,Bula really needs to step up this year, they pampered him in reserves to "watch the game"get his bearings, its time he earned his money.

Agree, they need to lift. But class halves with energy can make that happen. Like you say, Luai could do it.

In 2005, before the season started, we would’ve said our backline is weak and our forwards will never compete with the big guns. The Marshall and Prince combo were the catalyst.

This team is better on paper right now than we were in 2005 preseason.
Dare to dream!

Happy new year!

Tim Jo and Sukkar have only played extremely limited minutes of NRL.....how anyone can be giving them any wraps as starters in the back row is absolutely ludicrous....or even Top 17 for that matter
I agree but I think they have both showed something that we should at least have some patience with. They may both be ready today but given where we are with backrowers, they be worth seeing if they can develop.

Happy to see how they progress in grade ...but they aren't anywhere near our Top 17
Props defending in the back row get eaten alive by quick halves
Just remember they have to be playing really big minutes as a back rower
