Yeah,

A new era where they are divided by your movement.

Your unite movement is only supported by the small sample of petitioners.

A minority group.
There is a divide, you're correct. There is one side that is concerned about and wants Wests Tigers to thrive under better management. Opposed by others, who appear more concerned with Magpies and Balmain Tigers. Its pretty easy to pick them by their comments.

FFS! Lee was a non-executive chairperson, on an 8-person board.

Lee, Myatt (ind) and a joke that Myatt was considered independent
Stapleton (BT)
Burgess, Romero, Wayde, Andreacchio (HBG) Dorahy (WM)

What do you think is the faction that got their way is on this board?

Happy to sack Madge, install Sheens (who had sued the club!), agree to succession, then didn’t consult Sheens (HC and GM Football) & Benji (future HC) to install Fulton. What a farkin circus!

They want you to believe that Lee and Pascoe made all the decisions, which they succeeded and still do it appears. Control of the board was firmly with HBG and has been since 2016. Pascoe was out of his depth but it was what they wanted as they had him on a string. In Lee, they had a clown to be their face and voice for their ineptitude. It was perfect for them.

The supporter base has wised up now and want insurance middle managers, musicians, car salesmen, real estate agents, and John laws wannabes off the board of a professional sports organisation.
It's well known that Lee, Wayde and TA ran the football club. No one else got a look in.

And now all three have gone.

We can look forward to better days. And yet the petitioners want the HBG investigated for removing the turbulent directors

It's nothing like North Korea.

In North Korea, you have a gun pointed to your head to vote for the divine leader.

Here,
  1. You have a choice to join Holman Barnes Group
  2. You have a choice to go to the AGM
  3. You have a choice in voting for a board member
  4. You have a choice to request to become a general member
  5. You have a choice of 20 candidates to vote for as a general member to make 5 board members
Let's stop the emotive outbursts ... You'll gain more support from everywhere when you make salient points and your statements are factually backed and your sources are referencable.

There is a positive way forward here. I don't think your highly emotive approach is the right one. But you can get it right
Geezus that is such a patronizing response.

Here is something for you to reflect on completely separate from your corporate governance knowledge which seems extensive - following a team is emotive hence the frustration and "outbursts" by fans who keep getting sold one thing only to endure years of failure under a governance structure - legal or not - answerable to no one but themselves. It was their own actions of turning on each other that further fuelled the concern that they are dysfunctional and yet deem it as a rite under the debenture system to be on the board of this club instead of a privilege.
The emotional outbursts should have come years ago because it seems it's the only thing that has agitated some level of accountability toward their fans who they keep expecting to support the club while they remain untouchable.

We would all be preferring to talk about next season but it was the actions of the self serving board that is responsible for the fans recent emotional outbursts.
The fans are the last people who need a lecture in relation to WTs.

Eh what? No, it didn't. The last petition was started AFTER the review had been approved
Er what ?

The owners of the Wests Tigers have reportedly commissioned a review of the club’s operations after winning their second wooden spoon in consecutive years.
The review comes after a meeting with furious fans of the embattled club, with more than 2000 signing a petition urging for a club overhaul.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting the review will be conducted by former NRL chief financial officer Tony Crawford and managing director of Cooperage Capital Pty Ltd Gary Barnier.

“The board of the Holman Barnes Group has commissioned an independent report into the governance of Wests Tigers,” the club said to News Corp.

“The board would like to thank all members and fans of Wests Tigers for their feedback in relation to this matter, especially all those that took the time to sign the petition that was submitted through the hosts of Wests Tigers podcast.

Show us this group living outside the bubble who are happy with WT performance as an organisation. Hint: There isn’t one.
The football club has a lot of paying members and I’m sure only a small fraction of them are on here

Yeah but that’s not the argument I made. Is that group happy with the running of the club?

At no point did I say there weren’t fans not on the forum.

You lost me when you used Manchester United as your example. Their descent over the past decade is worse than Wests Tigers
good grief. That's what you took from this?

The world's BIGGEST football team by value, and you think that's a negative?

The last 10 years:

Played Champions League Football 2024, 2023, 2021, 2019, 2018, 2016
FA Cup Winner 2024, 2016
FA Cup Runner Up 2023, 2018,
Europa League Runner Up 2021
Europa League Winner 2017

You are right that's a fall from Winning the league year after year.

But you want to compare that to us winning 3 spoons and not playing finals for 13 years?

Ok. Makes sense

...ok I'll bite here.

How about this. Instead of being antagonistic towards the HBG, perhaps look into setting up a Supporters Trust and offering to work with the football club.

These are very popular in the UK (ManUtd supporters trust has a quarter of a million members!). I am a member of 2x supporters trusts and are in place for many football, rugby and cricket clubs.

It's never been done here before to my knowledge, but this would give you something to look at instead of ranting and petitioning and could be a groundbreaking achievement

Some sporting organisations allow the supporters trust to present to the board, and sit in on some board members. Some sporting organisations invite the trust to appoint a board member.

A Trust would have a paid for subscription, which simply covers costs of running the Trust, nothing else. Perhaps $20 a year for a personal membership, $200 for a corporate membership.

The Trust would need its own constitution, and by laws, and a board to run it.

The suggestion would be the board made up of a selection of members, but perhaps including a board member of legal standing (and not already involved in sponsorship of the club).

If Wests Tigers saw a formalise supporters group, they would take the supporters groups more seriously and perhaps actually listen.
No disrespect to you but this is laughable. The current board don't listen to anyone but their other family members. You know the ones that they critiqued and scrutinized to see if they were eligible to be a debenture holder. What makes you think they will listen to a 'supporter's trust'. I can just imagine the board meeting with a couple of pelicans from the hill telling them what to do. It's ludicrous. How about we get some Honorable transparent club / sports administrators who will take this club forward first instead of worrying about a supporter's trust.

You seem to know a lot of information that isn’t common knowledge.

I wonder how you could possibly know this given you’ve previously stated you have no attachment or connection to HBG.

You also gave some advice about referencing. Could you actually point me in the right direction because for the life of me I can’t find a source of information that verifies this claim.

The review was still started before the petition. I don't know how hard that is to understand.

Just because the club thanked the fans, doesn't mean they caused the review. It just backed up the two board members who pushed for the review with the board of the HBG in the first place. They justified starting it by the following actions of the fana

lol can’t you read ?

Here’s another one … read & learn & stop dribbling nonsense

The petition went to the club’s major shareholder, the Holman Barnes Group, which then ordered an external review to be conducted by former NRL chief financial officer Tony Crawford and businessman Gary Barnier. Their recommendations resulted in the dissolution of the Wests Tigers administration.

Helmes and his fellow podcasters will have a busy schedule as they digest how their simple online petition helped bring about such seismic change at the club they love.
