Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Doueihi a chance at right centre ..
When you consider we have Justin Olam, Adam Doueihi, Starford To’a, Jeral Skelton, Sunia Turuva, Brent Naden, Josh Feledy, Solomona Faatape and potentially Heamasi Makasini, Latu Fainu or a potential late signing in Taylan May all competing for starting NRL positions, we have plenty to choose from and surely it creates enough pressure for a few of them play regularly well enough to make the position their own.

Thats some list of pressure V.

I genuinely think we’re one quality forward signing away from being a top 8 team.

It seems the belief around the club is players will become available throughout the 2025 season and they’ll pick their moment to pounce.

If the right player becomes available I think we can be a serious threat.

Not expecting anything crazy next season tbh I’d just like to see signs of improvements if we miss the 8 but we’re competitive all year and are having a crack I’ll be happy.

Hopefully enough to convince Galvin to stay….

From Memory Benji saved the game with a great tackle Darren Smith on the tryline. So much for those who questioned his defense. Maybe earlier on his defense was sus but later he was a great contributor and helped us to a GF.
I thought it was that broncos/all black player, sorry can’t remember his name?

A player with defensive issues thrown green into the centre position is a recipe for disaster.
He's great with the ball and runs like lightning, excitement machine... But defense was a huge issue for us had been for years... We don't need another arm grabber
I would take Sloan in a heart beat,
Given a half chance in attack he will convert into points, I would convert Bula into a centre to fit Sloan into our team.
As I rate Sloan a bigger attacking threat than Bula.
Anyway I don’t think ST George will be letting him go anyway.

SRF or big middle teddy, just want them to get off the bottom if they are competing for the 8 bonus.

Well said. I think spot #30 goes to Taylan pending his court case as mentioned by a lot of members on here. Nado & To'a a chance too. Let the best man win..

BI rated him early on because he was a big body and attacking threat but his lateral defense after an ACL and tackling he should be depth and nothing more

I think we're looking to score points all over the park, he fits the mould in a lot of ways. I think Benji is focused on all out attack in my personal opinion. From the school of Tim Sheen's, score more points than the opposition & muscle up when need be. That's what I think anyway

Personally I think a big middle forward.

I know it might’ve been a pipe dream given the May signing inbetween it all but I would’ve loved Leo Thompson…

Backrower if anything.. Leo would have been amazing but I reckon we've got a mean pack. A re-energized Klem in his twilight years, Pole, May, Sione, Hunt. I think our middles will give teams plenty of trouble this year don't worry 🫡🤨🫡

I don't think that's the case. The excitement with Gardiner originates from his performances with our reserve grade squad and the feedback players had about him. His intelligence and communication was very highly regarded. The fact he has now spent time at Penrith is the icing on the cake.
He managed to coach one first grade game for us which was that infamous game against the Cowgirls when we were robbed of a much deserved victory by "I'll get you Butler" and "Ashley the Klown."

I will also hate for ever Townsend and Feldt, the later who I held in high regard prior to his scummy act.

That was such a great effort by our boys only to be robbed at the bell by dubious calls and action by not only the match officials but also by members of the North Queensland playing squad, not to mention Annersley and his rewriting/interpretation of the rule book.

My only disappointment with Ben Gardiner at the time was that he kept very quiet and did not get involved in the controversy that came from that hateful game.

I guess that come the end of the day you could say he was very diplomatic and with the position he was in at the time was probably the sensible thing to do, if nothing else, it showed his ability to present a calm and measured response at a critical time.

I guess in a way he knew he was already leaving the Wests Tigers, because for some reason he was not wanted, despite being the best and most successful coach at the club at that time.

Despite all that I find it unbelievable that even if he was leaving, why was he not given the coaching position for the remainder of the year instead of installing the hapless Brett Kimmorley, surely anyone could see that Gardiner was the best and most logical choice to take over for the remainder of the season.

Bula wants to play fullback .. don’t mess with him.
