Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Would absolutely take Tupouniua over Seyfarth. Tupouniua had his first full year back from a major injury last season and he spent time playing at centre, second row and middle. That’s why his numbers are down (he was also starting pre-injury).

You say that these are things that can be taken out of his game but it’s getting worse, not better. That’s the biggest issue.

His defense is so poor, especially when he constantly shoots out of the line and can’t recover sideways because of his poor lateral movement. It’s one thing peeling or falling off a tackle, but completely missing the player and creating overlaps is another. He grabs at players rather than hitting with his shoulder.

There’s been a bunch of instances where he’s rushed out of the line resulting in a 4 on 3 and the opposition scores in the corner. Unfortunately it’s the winger that gets blamed, but it’s actually the fault of the second rower rushing out of the line creating the overlap, which the half, centre and winger have to then react and rush in.

I think the problem is that most fans see his passion and effort and want to believe or convince themselves that he can improve, but he’s shown no sign of improvement when it comes to defense, decision making and discipline.

I seriously hope he miraculously turns it around this off-season, otherwise we are in for a long season.
I wanted the club to go after Tupouniua CC but it wasn't greeted with any popularity on here, he had a good season last year as you said, thought a 2 year deal was perfect but not 3 that dogs probably had to offer to secure him.

I dont know why people seem to think Seyfarth finished the year strongly... Was it because he scored one decent try, that was created by Latu?

From what I remember he almost single handedly lost us the game against Souths at the back end of the year and was in the top 3 of worst disciplined players in the entire comp (penalties conceded to minutes played). He also let in soft tries when playing at second row at the back end of the year from rushing out of the line, leaving his half and outside backs isolated.

He has been in the squad for years now and his discipline and decision making has progressively gotten worse, which is very concerning.
If Seyfarth wasn't a local junior there wouldn't even be half the hype there is for him now. I just don't understand all the fanfare for a player who's been bang average for most of his time in first grade.

He may have been, as you say one of the worst over the season, but do you have stats towards the end of the season that go against my impression that he was working hard on his discipline and that it actually improved.

I'm only going on my impression and was not using statistics.
In the first 12 games of the year he had 4 penalties and 1 sin bin.

In the last 12 games of the year he had 9 penalties and 1 sin bin.

He was actually worse at the end of the year. Its also worth noting that he has a much higher rate of giving away penalties when in the starting side and on the edge. Nearly all the games where he had zero errors and penalties were coming off the bench playing in the middle.

But he did score that one good try against Manly at the end of the year!

Word here is "He's starting to show some promise"
After 6 seasons in Top Grade, You'd certainly hope so.

Fantastic squad member,
But in reality, he'd be lucky to get 6 games a year at any other club.

Your thoughts on him going forward?

Don't have any Mate,
Done nothing to deserve a top 30 spot and we need 2 NRL backrowers in Front of him.
Where he goes from there is up to him.
He's a kid, Happy to keep him around in lower grades until he shows something...

Anyone claiming he's going to come on in the blink of an eye and instantly solve the back row issue
is not very realistic.

I see molo has said he won’t play for the drag queens again , if he gets released would he be a good pick up , he hits the line hard and is a rugged defender, IF we got him we could play MAY as a lock , he plays big minutes and has a good offload .

So lets her ur thoughts people
