Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I can see the logic in wanting to move Mahoney on. His niggle really puts his team under the pump at times. I know first hand as he was in my SC team last year, and he pissed me off deluxe, numerous times. You don’t believe anything Gus says. He’ll say whatever is convenient at the time.
Think your on to something GNR. If Mahoney is in my team, no way I'm letting him go. Yeah he's got niggle and it can cause a few penalties here and there but the guy is full of mongrel and is a very good dummy half. Think Gus is playing the old look what iv got in my right hand so you don't see what I'm doing with my left.

Some will compare him to Ennis. But Ennis had a hell of a lot more subtlety to his niggle. Mahoney is too obvious and in your face and makes himself a target to the referees.

I wonder if him being named captain in the trial was trying to show him how we felt.

Is it too little too late?

Tbf, I'd be a bit irked if I was him too. There were numerous chances to name him at 14 when we went with others.

It's both. He is deemed fit to play but he will remain somewhat troubled by the injury for the remainder of his career.
I for one will leave it to the medical team to determine if he is fit to play. The recent media beat up on Luai being sent for scans on a leg injury a few weeks back would have you assume he did an ACL, however he was back training with no issues as is Turuva after his appendix was removed and he was to miss round 1 by the first stories being published. Click bait for a few more weeks and then we get to watch the weekly news be it good or bad. I have no doubts Olam may have ongoing issues but most players do when you have been in the NRL for as long as he has, it is a brutal sport and takes a toll on your body.

He has the protection of the No Punch rule as I am 100% sure he would not be as bold to run in and push and shove when he could have had one put on his chin. Not saying I condone it, but you knew your place back then and it was less niggle because you would get justice like Farah and Watts at Leichhardt.
