Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I've heard a bit of stuff that Stef is extremely unhappy in Melbourne. Feels like he doesn't fit in with the culture & that the training is way too intense (like Madge but on steroids) He had a couple of nights in hospital the last 10 weeks due to exhaustion from training and severe spasms. He has never been treated like shit before but now knows what it’s like. Not enjoying it.
Maybe quit football. Get a real job. Bricklayer maybe. Ain't no bludging at Wests Tigers anymore. Poor Stef. Hope he will be okay.

As long as its not one of our new recruits I really dont give two hoots

I’d actually prefer Klemmer over Molo putting salaries aside, Klemmer has always put in and stats wise produced more metres (101 av to 95 av) at a better tackle efficiency.

He also didn’t just walk out on training from his current team and has almost double the experience of games at basically the age (Klemmer one year older)

And that’s in a team that did MUCH worse than the Dragons.

I doubt Molo would be cheap either and there is the obvious disruption of moving teams a just before a season starts

“With Royce, he’s helped me with my back row job. The way he plays in the middle and he’s given me tips about how to defend that back row by connecting with the middle. So he’s definitely helped me a lot and so has Terrell May."

“He’s (Bird) been playing a few different roles at lock, second row and centre, so he gives us a lot of options.”

“Of the younger boys coming through Luke Laulili has been massive at training."

“Heamasi Makasini has also been awesome at training, so I’m expecting them to take their chances this year.”

Why are people saying players that changed clubs in 2025? It clearly says 2024 (last season).

My guess would be Herbie (back to Broncos), Leniu (back to Panthers) or Averillo (Dogs). Could be anyone, these junros use the word 'Star' for absolutely anyone!

"Switched clubs in 2024" is unclear, so who knows, as the official change was November 1st and the vast majority of player signed their contracts for the 2025 season prior to then, or this year.

I was about to say the same thing . All but done apparently . The Molo swap must be real . I don’t know why we would want Molo though
Not in a perfect world.
But when we are virtually 2 weeks from our round 1 game for the 2025 season, there would not be any better options jumping out.
Say Klemmer’s contract value is 700k and Molo’s is 500k.
Klemmer gives us work rate which we also get from May, Pole, Twal, potentially Sione Fainu and also from Seyfarth if he was to be moved back to the middle.
Molo offers less work rate, but a lot more impact with his strong ball carries that we appear to be lacking.
If we take over his contract for 2025 and 2026, that is potentially a 200k per season saving on what we would have been paying Klemmer and that money could be spent on covering our other bad contracts for players now playing elsewhere that we are still paying for and potentially give us more scope to upgrade Galvin and look at signing other players such as possibly Taylan May for 2025 and a back rower for 2026.
So if any of this is remotely true, Molo would just be a short term fix and let us look at other options for 2026/2027 and beyond.

Klemmer's pushed for the move himself, but the club will benefit immensely from getting his hefty contract off the books and being able to open up another spot.

if there's anything last week proved, it's that we desperately need a first grade-quality backrower. I'm not sure what's out there, but I'm hopeful that's where we turn our attention. we certainly have the cash.

I think this year is still a big year for Richo to get our salary cap in order. Klemmer is another of the inflated salaries we have on our books after Sullivan & Bateman, so any decision to release him would be purely financial.
Timing really couldn't be worse but if we can do a swap with Molo on less coin then I'm cool with that... I guess we have to chip in to The Dragons to take Klemmer

I think not having Klemmer here for next season on $800k or whatever his option was worth is the big thing. It would only take one of our props to go down early this year and I could see Klemmer easily getting to enough games to trigger his contract. The fact is, Klemmer on $800k is/has been poor value for money for mine so freeing up the spot and cash (hopefully most of it) is good.
