Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Just another Polynesian that plays footy because he is a big body but doesn't have a love for the game. You're getting paid millions to play a bloody game what more motivation would you need these players are so out of touch with the real world and how hard it is to earn a lot outside of footy. I hope we don't experience the same issue with May.

Crazy that Klemmer may have played his last game this close to round 1. Only creates instability and if we get any less than Francis Molo in return, management just aren't taking 1st grade results seriously enough, especially for a club with a wooden spoon three-peat.
Totally agreed.

Look is Klemmer at 2018 form, NO.
Does he put in and do the work of a forward taking a fair load? YES

We had better be getting someone pretty damn good at this stage. May + Molo means a bit of agro in the pack, but if Flanagan cannot handle Molo then Benji will struggle.

I would rather ante up and pay for someone better, but I get that our options are limited...

Should be keeping Klemmer.

Total speculation on my part …they must have recently told Klemmer he won’t be picked enough times to get a contract next season ,.. and he has demanded an immediate release …

the timing is ordinary … maybe they should have had that discussion in November ..

Maybe tactical as we have now paid 3 months of his salary which reduces his cost for the club that signs him.

$650k for a guy turning 32 who mightn’t even play or is on the bench 80% of the game. Gives us some decent $$$ to spend on potentially a 2rf or Taylan may or upgrade and extend Lachie

It only makes sense we let Klemmer go, the a snowflakes chance in hell we're allowing him to go past his trigger point. So he's only valuable to us for half a season, he obviously wants more security than 1 yr we only see value in him this year not next.
I have no idea about Molo i can't profess to ever watching him closely but seems we need a backrower more than a middle.

Molo is an upgrade on Klem if we do sign him we have a top 8 pack I don't care what anyone says.

I think we'll be alright for outside backs and spine cover, it's simply the forwards, namely the back row. we're an injury away from having Sukkar on the bench.
100% We have depth were we don't want it, in the Centers/wings.

We need depth in the forwards. Props were a little light and second row we have one Prop in Samuela Fainu...

Really wish we could offload some of our wannabe centers to get more Front row depth.

This is what Flanagan had to say:

“I am not comfortable with our position. We have our No.1 front-rower, who played 23 games last year, just walking out as the season starts.

“I'm not comfortable with it, but he has taken a stance and we need to work through it.”

If we don't finish above the Dragons this season, that'll do me.

remember this
we aren’t winning a premiership in 2025
we are getting rid of a average contract which will let us be flexible with our roster

good luck to klem , did a great job at the club
I agree this is all about being in a good position to enter the market place when the right player is up for grabs and taking the opportunity to off load contracts when they present themselves. Both Klemmer and the club will come out winners , but Iam not expecting a replacement signing anytime soon

The problem with our depth is that they are good for cameo appearances only currently. That will change as they get older/more developed but until then, if they are required to string games together in NRL, theyll struggle.
Also they are fine if we only need to use one of them. If a we are relying on more than a couple of them to step up in a game then they will struggle all being on the field together

It might be better than last year …is that a high bar ?

Talk me through the centres and second row depth …13 …Matamua… what has he done ? we might be Toa and Naden starting centers Round 1 ..

The wing depth doesn’t look great either …is Luke L out for 12 weeks as rumoured ? We got Lobb up next ?
this was an exercise to simply show our best 17 v our second. a lot of these guys won't be the next man up in their respective positions, because there's players like Naden and Doueihi who can play in a few different places across the park.

with that in mind, our wing depth might be Skelton, Turuva, Naden, Staines and then Laulili'i, which makes me confident in our depth.

same goes with the 13 situation. I can see Pole being moved there and Kit being brought onto the bench to cover. Matamua will probably be an emergency situation.

I think for the most part that we've done an excellent job in 12 months to build some decent depth. the second row needs work, but again, I think we're in a really good place and providing there isn't many injuries, the performance of second grade will show that.

I hope u go to church on Sundays , don’t forget to say 10 hail Mary’s , but I doubt even that will help this depleted team , why would u bring in some great backs , and then cull ur forwards to the point if u get 1-3 injuries ur in big strife
