On paper yes you are right. Fair to say though they all were shit here.Loosing:
Klemmer,
Bateman,
Papalii
Stefano
is just huge. All in the 1 season.
I am glad to get May, because even before Klem leaving I knew we would need him.
I just hope Richo has someone like Spencer Leniu's quality heading our way. I don't want a repeat of 2022 again...
No forward pack, nothing happens.
Ours have spent all their money every SeptemberReportedly Smith has a drug and gambling problem.. borrowing money from team mates and not paying it back .. is this the guy we need at our club ?
Isn't that what the Bateman money was for? How much are we gonna offer Galvin?!Leniu is not happening lol
Heard we got no money or it’s being used for galvin.
Happy to be proven wrong but that’s what I got.
It is not a decision about the here and now. It is an oppurtunity decision to clear a poor contract to provide flexibility. Richo may or may not have a replacement lined up - but if Klemmer goes we have a roster spot available and $400ishK in the cap for use this year. Klemmer doesn't trigger the extension so we don't have $600-800K (depending on whose story you believe) hole in our budget and still carrying an underperforming player in 2026. If Klemmer was on the books and we didn't want to trigger the extension he could only play a dozen games this year anyway.I cant understand this decision. Unless we have someone else better coming in to replace him within the squad then this weakens the squad overall.
Klemmer is not the prop he used to be but he still produces decent numbers and plays with passion. He is also role model across the club which I think is under estimated with the number of young kids coming through.
To do this 1 week before the season starts is crazy, with zero substance.
I might be in the minority here, but this is not a good decision in IMO.
We could sign him on a low contract then make it up next year when we got heaps of players off contractIsn't that what the Bateman money was for? How much are we gonna offer Galvin?!
Thank you. People that are complaining about losing Klemmer for 13 games this year are missing the point. And Klemmer’s salary this year looks a whole lot worse on a per game basis when he would have been limited to a maximum of 13 first grade games. It is not a decision about the here and now. So whatever way you look at it we (the club) were getting the shit end of the stick on a contract heavily weighted in the player's favour. This is simply a smart football business decision. The opportunity happend to present itself just before the start of the season - works for Klem and for us.
It comes back to price vs output and for that output, a Reuben Porter could do the job if need be - who’s not even top 30.Thank you. I reckon Roosters may offer to swap Galvin for LeniuLeniu isn’t happening but we’ve got shitloads of cash.
Galvin isn’t getting the entirety of the ~$1m we have in spare salary cap. he’ll probably attract some TPAs as well.
I’d say Galvin gets a $300k upgrade and we push for two mid-range signings at approx $350k each. might do some frontloading as well.
I would anticipate we’ll keep our powder dry for the first reputable backrower that kicks up a stink within the first eight weeks of the year.
Sharing a cab. Arriving together.Does he arrive before or after Brian To'o?
Hope they pick up Payne Hass and Nathan Cleary on the waySharing a cab. Arriving together.
I don’t think Leniu’s the player in question.I reckon Roosters may offer to swap Galvin for Leniu
I don’t think Leniu’s the player in question.
few rumours doing the rounds it’s actually a former player of ours.
Idk just what I heardIsn't that what the Bateman money was for? How much are we gonna offer Galvin?!
The snippet wasn't very clear as to whether it was a player who left for season 2024 or 2025. If 2025, maybe Junior Tupou? stuck behind some quality outside backs at Dolphins. I would have him back in a heartbeat. I think Melbourne would be looking after Stef so not sure it would be him.I don’t think Leniu’s the player in question.

Everyone crossing fingers it is Utoikamanu or Papali'i....I don’t think Leniu’s the player in question.

If 2024, welcome back David Nofoaluma, hope we can squeeze him in!
