Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

With Manly having so many outside backs at the moment I hoping Manly don’t pick Tolu Koula in there starting 13 each week and maybe his management starts looking for somewhere else for him to make a starting side.
If so he would improve our backline speed immensely and fill a centre position in our squad easily. Also cover for fullback.
Again only thinking of options with players not getting starting time with their clubs and wishful thinking.
Seibold confirmed today that Garrick and Koula will be starting centres round 1 and Hopoate has claimed a wing spot. He said the last wing spot is up for grabs between Saab, Talau and Faulalo.

Saab sucks tbh, I can see him leaving soon. Absolute dog sh*t kick returns. The only thing he's good for is his speed in open space although his handling is pretty awful too.

What no dickhead policy? Do you know I have heard people for years talk about the club having a no dickhead policy. I’ve only ever heard it on this forum. It’s never been stated by the club once. I suppose it doesn’t have to be stated publicly as it’s pretty much assumed that every club has that policy by default. The only club that has ever used that term publicly is the Sydney Swans.

On May though, I consider him a dead shit regardless if he’s found guilty or not. Filming yourself going 80 or 90km’s through a school zone makes you a total wanker in my book.
GNR I remember, it was a throw away line from Josh Reynalds while Cleary was coaching during an interview, they were asking him about how hard it was to buy in to Clearys coaching, if anyone wasn't buying in.

Did this really occur? Ive only seen a journo and people on here claim it.
It was as widely reported as most other stories that pop up, so I guess we can only go on what is reported. It was across most platforms at the time from memory. But you're right, like most things, we don't know the full extent.
However even if it did, this isnt a happy friends, chocolate fountains and rainbows unicorn riding enterprise. They are allowed to argue, vent frustrations and question decisions.
Of course. I agree that it's not daisy chains and hug circles. But, if it was as is reported, there are ways to go about discussing matters, particular as a senior staff member to a boss. Every industry is different, but from my experience, regardless of how rough and tumble the work situation is, there's still a right way to go about it.
I’ve seen no report from people who matter saying that he was constantly undermining Benj.

Yes this wasn’t great. He seemed unhappy, even upset at treatment?
Yeh, possibly. I argued last year that I'm empathetic to Bateman in that situation if he was unfairly targeted and Benji himself should've known how (and who) to target with a dressing-down in front of the playing group.
It seems the club hasn’t handled it well. Do we even really know why he went back to England last year?
No we don't, but the timing is pretty strong suggestion that the situation deteriorated from that incident after the (Souths?) game, leading to the option of space for all parties becoming available. That gave both Bateman, Benji and Richo the time to figure out whether it was patch-up-able or not. Plus a little back in the Tigers' purse in the meantime in what was already a lost season.

I don't have a problem with how it was handled after the fact.

As you said though, it's hard to know exactly what went down. So, personally, I err on the side of condemning either party too much over it. But that's just me.

Sorry it took so long to reply, mate. Big day.

We had dickheads proclaiming a no dickhead policy? How’s that for irony

Fundamentally you and I agree.
I don’t for one second think only one side is to blame. I’m pretty sure all stakeholders played their part.
I just don’t like the narrative that it was all Batemans fault. He is the only party that gets constantly shit talked about this.
I said in an early post, it’s almost character assassination. The others have copped nothing.

Particularly when we also had two other players, nearly 3 walk out as well. It’s always the players fault to some. If one of these new signings doesn’t work out and God forbid has a falling out with the club, it will be his fault too.

He's gone now Tuck is it not time now to move on?

Yeh, he's just another in a long-line of low-hanging fruit at our club I think.

Sometimes there needs to be perspective about who the player actually is tho... much like Jackson Hastings Bateman has had a falling out with every club he's been at & that definitely sounds like a John Bateman issue.

Well, considering we are short a backrower of any real note, I dont see why questions cant be asked as to why we got rid of a current international in that position.
You have a point judgement will be made when we eventually find a replacement for him and compare, myself I want a bigger more impact player in his position and felt this way before we signed him that's just me, opinions vary.

“This has been doing the rounds... there’s been a rumour going around that Spencer Leniu wanted out of the club,” Read said on Triple M on Monday morning.

“I contacted his agent last week about it, his agent said ‘that’s not true’. I know some other journalists have contacted the Roosters about it, the Roosters have denied it.

“The player involved is Spencer Leniu.”

Gosh it's good the negative news isn't about the tigers for once.

sounds like a gen Y issue

This is funny because if you believe the rumour, we got rid of Hastings because he didn’t get along with Bateman.
