LIVE GAME Round 2 versus Eels

Live Game Discussion
Mitch Moses injury update , still about 6 weeks of a return due to setback , Eels should be 0 from 8 by then😁 trouble is I had Dragons last in a multi for the season with us and Warriors in the 8 , and storm minor prems , I think eels could get the spoon

Sam Fainu is going fine. People heard the commentator say it was his first run after 20 odd minutes into the game & that sticks.

He could possibly go looking for the ball more, but with the wingers carrying a greater load & with Doueihi & To'a getting carries- there's only so much ball.

He was instrumental in the last Turuva try. And not many breaks coming down his side of the field.

Don't look for something that isn't there.

There’s a new spoon factory in town.

I’d love it if they are cashed up, coming last, and Gal say no thanks I wanna wins games. 🤭

I know Sam F and the Baby Giraffe are looking lazy in attack– but I don’t think they are. It is hard to see on the TV, but I am pretty sure that they are running the lines that allow our unstructured players to compete. What I mean is they, and others, are providing the structure that allows a “Flat 4” attack to work.
not necessarily on the flat shapes but the lead line Seyfarth ran to hold up Lane and Brown is what led to Bula and To'a having the time and space required to create points. he's a meat and potatoes backrower but as long as he runs those lines and gets to his man defensively, then he is exactly what we need.

Sammy had some ugly moments with ball in hand but it was extremely pleasing to see his application and contact in defence. clearly didn't let those ugly moments affect him with the way he set up that final Turuva try. all class and he'll take a lot from that into next week.

I agree, I'm not too worried about Sam F, his defence is good and he is getting to the right places, maybe not at exactly the right time. I don't think it will be too far awy before it starts to come together on that edge.

Spot on with Seyfarth, he is one of those guys who just does what the coach says. He plays his role and while I wold prefer him to stick a little better in defence he isn't a huge liability.

This is the early win we needed to reinforce effort. Looking forward to next week.

One thing I noticed from this game was the number of crucial tackles Jarome made, many of them were last line stops, very impressed with his commitment in this area
Yes, that did not go unnoticed.
Over the past 3 years, many of those tackles would not have been made and we'd be sitting at 7-8 tries against instead of just 3.

It's inspiring.

When they scored and I saw the disappointment on Seyfarths face....I was expecting the commentary to say something like "we fought to the final seconds to keep them out...shows how much it means to them" etc as we've heard before...but nah not cronk the little turd...true colours come thru
What did he say?

A win is always better than a loss and I'll take the hit in the footy tipping comp by not tipping them.

Did anyone else see the bearded lady Wests Tigers supporter at the southern end of the field?
Yes I did. I even hit pause to make sure what I thought I was seeing was real

From where I sat Luai was barking orders all game. I think a halfback’s had a fair game when the outside backs see plenty of space and points, regardless of his limited stats.

Obviously the start of the game needs to improve though.
Agree
I don’t know if the starts are going to change much because with Hunt on the bench our starting pack lack size and muscle
May,Twal,Seyfarth & Fainu are all fit and can play long minutes but do struggle to hold the opposition big middle forwards until about the 15-20 minute mark when fatigue comes into it and the big fellas get tired and aren’t as dangerous.
For the first 2 games we haven’t looked good early but they have kept them scoreless, the test will come when a team does score 2 early tries against us in that first 15 minutes.
So far so good 😊

What did he say?
Just put a negative spin on it...no credit to Parra for scoring, he said something like "Yeah only the tigers could do that"
You could see the disappointment in Galvin and Seyfarth's faces, they never gave up ...but cronk couldnt resist one last dig
