Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Wow this is massive. Not a good look for Galvin. Interesting times ahead.
Latu and Luai show on now.
I think this is another Stephano, Pole deal. Where the media hyed player is the one who leaves and the quiet achiever remains. In the end it's the one who stays that ends up the better player. Have to see how it all pans out, hope Latu can get his body right. If he does he and Luai could be dynamic.

It gives Benji & the club the ammunition to actually make a switch now to Latu when he is fit.

Nobody will REALLY question if it's best for the club anymore. I'm sure the 360 guys will find something wrong with it- but I think most people would understand prioritising Fainu now.

I don't really see the value in Galvin being moved to centre in place of Doueihi. And now, I wouldn't be investing in his development as a back rower either. He plays 5/8 or #7 until Latu 'outplays' him. Then it's either TDS, Mason or Galvin at #14.

At least he told us now, gives us time to plan, looks like Luai/Latu halves and in 2027 bud will be the backup half. Galvin is not a million dollar player also, so kind of glad he knocked back our record contract since we would have overplayed. Latu is our future and that's ok

They have nipped his stinking manager in the bud from trying to bend our cap out of shape or using us for better money elsewhere.
No increase in his money for now and 26 gives us opportunity for strengthening some other positions to make us an even better team well done Richo.
💯 we can’t be held to ransom and overspend which would prevent us from having a decent squad around our spine.
I’m a huge Galvin fan and would much prefer him to stay, but he is currently nowhere near a 1 million dollar per season player, we would be paying him on potential in hope he gets there.
Obviously we need to find something for Latu as we cannot afford to upset or lose his brothers, but really it’s an opportunity to sign a proper 7 who can control a game and give us a high quality kicking game and give us a chance of winning the premiership in 2026 or 2027.
4 of them spring to mind, Isaaya Katoa who supposedly wants to come back to Sydney.
Toby Sexton who I believe is vastly under rated.
DCE or Adam Reynolds. Both getting on in age, but have kicking games that are second to none and look like they still have 2 more decent seasons in them.
With the older players, it would also mean Latu knows it’s not a long wait before getting more experience and potentially slotting into the starting halves.

Latu is a far better option for straightening up the attack and has a lot more pace than wonder boy, we won't miss him.

If Galvin isn't staying I would rather get a player swap going for next season, surely there is a side that needs a half but has a good quality second rower they can send out way. Better to have Latu playing so we can build for the future, rather than developing a player who is raw but has upside for another team to benefit from.
We're paying Galvin a modest sum and there is no doubt he could perform a role for WTs in support of a Luai and Fainu halves combination.

I can't recall a club statement like that ever before. If the club is intent on holding Galvin to his contract, I would suggest moving Galvin to the backrow as soon as Latu returns from injury. Aside from Latu, we have other options of varying quality, including Doueihi, Bird, Falls, Liles and Ackland. The latter two have been pretty impressive in their limited opportunities though they're very green.
The tigers have clearly been used in the past as bargaining chips for players and managers. Tigers just removed them selves from this scenario.

Agreed. The less we see or hear about his manager and family the better. Let's hope he has more integrity than Moses and refrains from agitating for an early release by tanking or feigning mental illness.
If he is dropped, that is exactly what will happen. They will wheel out the goofy teenager who "just wants to play footy" schtick.
I really wanted him to stay but admit that it will be good to get rid of the circus that follows him. What a slap in the face for the club that gave him an early start and then more than what he wanted.
