OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

I think you misunderstood what I'm saying. Playing for a wooden spoon team is not the trajectory that Lachy is used to or is interested in. He likes winning and he is use to winning and his reactions to losing and disappointment are evident. It appears that he feels he doesn't belong in that environment and when you have been a junior rep player your whole life and glorified the reality of suddenly being a loser is a bitter pill to swallow.
Man that just shows how weak minded you are as an individual . And the kid was on the periphery of most of those teams “he’s won all his life in”. He got dropped by the eels because of this .
He’s developed his body which has propelled him forward , basically in one summer .
But make no mistake , as others have said , he wasn’t the star in those teams . Until year 12 .
Man I guarantee you there’s probably 50 guys on this forum now who when they were kids played in strong teams that won all the time , and they got rep honours . It’s not unusual .
Losing , and the way you handle it , is far more important than winning . Because you are guaranteed to lose eventually . Look at the panthers . Father Time is undefeated . It shows in my opinion ,immaturity , and honestly a lack of will to win .

It's not a matter of them 'winning' though.

They've chosen their path and it's out of the club's control now.

What is in their control is a bargaining chip for the next, probably 6-8 months, that they can use to have a win out of all this.

Richo should be doing nothing but ringing club bosses at his likely destinations and starting to talk early swap deals.

Maximise what you can with the cards you've got.

Clubs will want him for next year. We need a centre and a second rower (at least).

Go shopping with this gift card before it expires.
Yes we need a centre and second rower. And a lock.
But I’d trade him for a goal kicker.
Just get him out.
Not the culture we are driving at the moment.

Gus did say that he has had one conversation with him and relayed that for his development he needed to be a sponge so he could become the best 22/23 yo in the NRL.
He is turning 20 this year he will be turning 22 at the beginning of his next contract with whoever.
Without leaving early, he is only going to have the option to be a sponge and develop slowly at the Tigers. Unless a release is granted and he goes to a club that he feels can develop him better.

So were those comments Gus made recent? Or in the past, because if they were in the past he is telling him to bide your time at the Tigers and learn as much as you can.
If recent however, he is basically telling him to find a club that can develop him better over this next period.

I really hope Benji grows a set and moves Latu straight to the front of the line. The media will have a field and it will turn into a circus, and Galvin’s camp will probably ask for a release, but who cares. The club is entitled to prioritise players who actually want to be here.
This.
I’d go further and say that Benji has to demote him in order to assert leadership and to show he has backbone and above all values integrity.

If Galvin remains in the side, it undermines the team and Benji.

It’s not like when Luai was leaving panthers. Luai was a world beater and his team were going for a premiership - which they won.

I don’t want this to be taken out of context, but having watched a few games live and close to the field before and after the games, Galvin appears disconnected from the team which are from Western Sydney, Polynesian, Kiwis, Lebanese, and indigenous. The arrival of Luai, Turuva, May, and now the emergence and gelling of the Fainus, Pole, T’oa et al and the group is very happy and talkative - connected. Galvin is an odd one out. Even Twal is a man of the people and Seyfarth doing his job, AD has found his place. Galvin is the most nervous and erratic one especially during warm up, Laui and Turuva are not being aggressive, but telling him where to stand in warm up drills in a firm way. He is just a kid but looks lost amongst the group till kick off and in part trying too much. Maybe it’s the same at training? No idea. I think his parents and him may feel he isn’t in the best place with all the ‘bros’, despite them playing well, and would be better to grow up around another team that’s more akin to his nature / temperament. I have no idea where that is, and which club isn’t similar to us in terms of players origins and their ‘bro’ness’.This is all just my observation. He certainly isn’t hanging out after games and giving time to the fans. At the dolphins game, To’a, Hunt and Pole had to be pulled from the field by a trainer or manager, and then you watch the lads get a feed. The big ‘dogs’ have arrived and I’m sure there is some tension when he was the beloved one last year. Most controversial part, and I love our team and all that is going on, but I can’t understand why a white skinny teenager might see this team as intimidating. Just hope Latu can find fitness - I sense he will be great with Luai and that is the teams preferred halves - to them - the bros. Galvin is an odd one out. Maybe I am wrong, but even TDS and Twal seem to be enjoying themselves around this harder edge bro group. Go the Tigs!
I was thinking the same YOTT. There is something that does not add up in this whole situation why Galvin doesn't want to stay at the WTs. We may never find out the real reason/s.

You don't have to convince me. He is 19 and to date it's all been about winning - until his stint with us. Losing is not fun and you have to own your part in it and don't think Lachy or his family feel the need to own any of it, nor does it look they want to.

Yeah, it’s hard sitting here trying to work it out - need to put down the phone and just accept it. It’s done, we need to move on. I’ll ask Pole on instagram we are ‘mates’ on there 😂

You're assuming those reasons havent been fed to him by his manager. He's not an incredibly bright kid from what I can see and still only 17 years old, he's probably very maluable to those in his inner circle. I think his parents or his manager have greatly helped make this decision
Well, potentially, but I think Galvin is the source and the info isn’t being processed well by the influencing parties.

The timing of the engagement with him wasn't clear, but I took it that he was grooming him for recruitment to the dogs in 27. I expect that the talk around the $ being too much for someone who has potential but is yet to develop was a screen to try and get the price down.

Gus was very straight faced when the situation was being discussed and tried not to be involved in the conversation until he was asked point blank. What he says is 100% accurate though - we were going to make and overs offer to keep him based on unrealised potential.

This is a similar situation to where we were with Stefano - we came out on the better side of that deal and expect that we will again.

What do you mean? You don’t believe the dogs have any interest? He basically did a sales pitch last night.
I'm not saying that. Alot of clubs will have interest. I just don't buy into the narrative that Gus has had any part in what's happened with his praise for Galvin in the media. IMO, Gus thought Galvin would remain a tiger and it wouldnt even be an option to sign him.

And whether it was a pitch or genuine advice, I think you could make arguments for either. I just don't think Galvins been part of his plans up until this point, and they have had faith in the bulldogs juniors. That could change now, ofcourse.

I did read that Gus recently patched things up with Moses which buys into the conspiracy. But I find it hard to believe.. If I'm proved wrong then so be it...

You defend Moses a lot in your posts
I’m not defending him, I’m just saying that I don’t think he’s ripping Galvin out of the tigers. He’s just representing his clients wishes. Once again, not saying it’s right. I think Moses not being a great manager.

EPL scouts will look at how a player reacts when they lose and when they make mistakes.

There are some that will cut a player from their prospect list on this alone.

We've seen what positive energy can do to a club with the signing of Luai.

I'd say Benji will gather the leadership group which will have a big bearing on the outcome, hopefully after Galvin addresses the team privately.

Yeah good points. I do remember Gus saying on 100% footy, ‘I hope he really remains at the Tigers’. It was like it was said knowing that there is uncertainty to the outcome’.
