Storm prepared well. They knew who to target. Their game plan was perfect.

I am proud of our improvement, but we still have quite a way to go if we are to become a top 4 side.

They looked like tourists in Melbourne today. I think just a couple of guys looked interested in playing, others looked tired, disinterested or CBF.
IMO, Bula was the only one who put in effort both ways; defence and attack
 
Notice that Melbourne almost entirely scored through the middle.

No tries from Stef/Blore I think.. But nothing from their wing, it's was Fullback/Hooker/front row scoring...

Could this have been planned by Craig as a way of Stefano/Blore getting some revenge/motivation?
Or just a good coach realising were playing all year with a B grade forward pack?

Clearly Storm have worked us out. Silence Terrell May, win the game.
 
That was the definition of soft. No intent to go up the middle, just to go around and no impact in defense. Aimless kicks and passes throughout the match.

Hopefully vlog and interview season slows down after this. There was a lot of talk after an average game against the Dragons and none of it has been backed up with actions.

Still, is that our best 60+ point loss? 🤔 there was a fair bit of talent on display at times, just no heart or brains.

Out of our 1-17, Bula, Turuva, Luai, May, Api, Fainu’s and TDS are the only players that should be here in 2-3 years.

Need to really focus around putting quality players around them.

Don't want freakishly talented proven performers from great clubs. They might block the pathway for one of our boom 13 year old juniors.

Collectively not good enough despite 2 players making over half the tackles between them.Terrible for a pack
 
This performance really rammed home a few things to me (and there is a lot more) …

1 Poor coaching by Benji to try to transform Staines into a centre when he has hardly played centre in his life apart from a poor game for us either last year when flogged by the Dragons & continuing to play May for too long when blind freddy can tell he is fatigued & struggling to make/complete tackles.

2 We need at least another 1 quality experienced prop with size & strength. Pole has progressed this season but still gets found out too often in effort areas & defensively.

3 Right side backrower is a given especially one who can shore up that side defensively with size & strength.

But be very careful, as I used this T word recently accompanied by a smiley face to make sure it wasn't taken as an insult, someone numbskull complained, my post was deleted, and I was cautioned.
