OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

I'm a firm believer that a lot of those points are allocated more often than not on reputation or the current hype.

When do you actually see in the media that Galvin had a bad game or that he made mistakes or he has a lot to work on?

All you see is them gushing over the kid and in the longer term this may be very detrimental to his development, which I couldn't give a shit about, especially if he is at the Dirty Dogs or the Slimey Parasitic Eels.
This is true if you look at the dally M voting. Some of them just assume someone had a good game and give them points. I think there was an obvious example where will Kennedy had a blinder from the sharks but someone got the 3 points ahead of him who played bang average

The timing of this is interesting. We play our last game in a 14 day break this Sunday.
It is about 6 weeks out from the June 30 deadline.
Monday is the first day of our bye week.
Latu should be back fit come our next game.
The board can meet at anytime really to discuss Galvin with Richo.
However doing it on day 1 of our bye week is intentional and could possibly lead to an immediate release.
Say the following scenario plays out.
1. Nothing comes from it, everyone has a break and gets back to it.
2. Galvin and his management is offered immediate rights to negotiate a new deal for 26 meaning can sign after the 10 day right of reply window.

How does the 2nd half of the season play out? Is it any different if they were to make a decision regarding all this at the end of the season. For mine, no if the intention is to keep Galvin in the top spot for the remainder.

I still think say nothing until October 30 and release Galvin on that day. Ridding us of next years 350k deal and removing us of the who will he sign with drama allowing the preseason to start fresh without it.
This is a normal board meeting

Galvins contract is just one of the agenda items, which would be expected.. and Galvins contract along with other players will also be of discussion at future board meetings too...

Its all business as usual.

All the talk around this board meeting is nothing but click bait for ad revenue

Way to much hype on Galvin since he made hia debut. He has potential to be a good first grader. Ethan Strange is a better 5/8 and the same age. Barely gets a mention. By the end of Galvins career he will have played for atleast 4 clubs.
Agree 100%
Ethan Strange is the real deal

If I had to pick which one I could have in my team Ethan Strange would be my choice every day of the week.

Good post @clontarfkid

Only thing I question is whether the Storm is the club to name re adding talent; I think they are rather a club that - through having players successfully fulfilling their own role as a "link in the chain" - makes a lot of ordinary players become very good players.
Storm probably a bad example.
I have the utmost respect for Bellamys ability to identify and develop talent that other clubs discard...guys like Blore and Papa are perfect examples,
but honestly hes virtually got a whole team of discards when u look closely..turns journeymen into rep players
Who was the fool who badmouthed him in 04 when he was on our radar..!
And we ended up with Sheens..for better and ...much much worse!

I've always said the Dally M is a bit of an illusion.

Taking it to an extreme for effect, a decent player in a team of terrible players has no one taking votes from him and will look better than he actually is.

An amazing player in a team of amazing players will lose out on votes because he doesn't stand out.

Reasons I think this:
a) For Hughes to win it last year was just massive. He is a great player in a team of great players, but also aided by the sheer volume of votes that would've been awarded to such a winning team.
b) Ponga won it (2023?). Great player, not many 'vote stealers'. Knights pretty much a one man show. Similar for Turbo, but he had DCE, so not as evident.
c) Brooks won half back of the year (2018?). I don't care what year it was, there is no way in hell Luke Brooks was ever the best half back in the NRL. But probably had a decent year and got a vast majority of votes given to the tigers.

Mz Simms got busted a few years ago , admitting she hadn;t actually watched ,or listened to the game ,doubt much has changed , pretty boys usually get the accolades. Sorry the adha kicked in , your second sentence doesn't quite stack up

She watched a replay...she was playing another game while the one whe was meant to vote on was being played.

Dally Ms has always been a farce

Sure for this season. Yes. But just like how the Roosters gave Terrell a call saying he wasn’t wanted at the last day of last season I say we do the same with Galvin.
Ultimately it all comes down to how the current team has been evaluated with Galvin in it and whether he is needed for the 2nd half of the year.
Basically I’m saying if the outcome of the meeting is that Galvin and his management have the opportunity to negotiate a deal for start of 26 before Nov1 we won’t hear the end of release options.
Maybe a better statement might be to grant a release for the 26 season and allow early negotiation from July 1. Meaning there is no talk of an early release for this year and it gets sorted through the origin period and it’s back to business for the back end and it is respected fully closed at the end of the season.
The other side of it is, they could be considering using Galvin in a potential swap deal.
Yeah, nah!
Let him sulk like the child he is, he can ask for a thousand releases. And we can just say sorry champ u have a contract.

it all keeps coming back to some underlying legal threat , it sounds worse than they have all stated about said subject that no 1 will talk about, last time i heard anything decent was the Fulton was a dead man walking b4 he got a foot in the door. It is a scheduled gathering , also could be part of Richo's wonderful news

My second sentence doesn't add up?

Ummm... Sorry @Merlot , makes sense to me.

Let's say a 15 year old kid is playing in an under 12's team. They're playing an under 17's team.

They're getting beaten because apart from the 15 year old, they're all only 12 playing against a whole team of 17 year olds.

You're watching the game and you look at both teams and you can pick out practically the whole team of 17 year olds to give votes for, but giving every vote to the one team doesn't feel right somehow.

You look at the losing team and think man, their players are all so much worse! Except for that bigger kid at 5/8th....Come to think of it, he was really good!

Objectively, he is nowhere near as good as any of the 17 year olds, but subjectively he looks as good as them because the rest of his team is 12!

So, in short, Jahrome Hughes is 17 years old and Kalyn Ponga is 15. Or something.
