Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We sign either of them, we lose Latu.

Neither are back ups and both would walk into a starting role on decent coin.

We need a reasonable price back up in the likes of Tyrone May or Dion Teaupa.... or as rumoured, Jonah Glover [Dragons NSW cup]

I also think Krystian Mapapalangi could be an option for 6 but is more suited to centre.

We also need to strengthen other areas which we won't be able to do if we drop big coin on Sexton or Sandon.
You're spot on @Demps Latu will be given every opportunity to get his strings right and be our long-term halves partner to Luai.

He is highly regarded internally by staff and team mates including the captains and, if not for an untimely injury and Galvin's fitness markers back in the pre-season of '24, he may well have locked the #6 or #7 away already.

But you are right, we need an injury back-up and one who is NRL ready.

But we are not going to get a Sandon or Sexton because we can't guarantee a starting spot so why would they come here.

I've always said Tyrone May going off some of his quotes in UK media reports recently, is proven NRL and we're probably the only NRL club in the mix. Teapupa is a good call whilst Jonah Glover has upside and is one of the best halfbacks in NSW Cup with skills we lack (long kicking, goal kicking).

The Puru brothers (half, lock) at Sharks may be options too, not sure on their contract status.

450k about what I'd have expected Turuva to be on. In my opinion that is well overs for an average winger and for what he has performed. His best games that would be a fair price but he has too many poor games/moments to consider that value.
If Luai's biggest achievement for the club after 11 games is that he convinced May to sign with us (assuming thats true) then I think that reflects how little he has delivered on the field.
It does seem he is good for driving standards and helping with the team buying in to the coaching but his actual on field performances aren't that of a $mil+ half.
First year together, hopefully after Galvout is gone they can settle back into finding form together to close out the season with some wins. It would be great to go through a full 12 months, a full off season and on season without some kind of Galgate drama.

Yeah, potentially the surrounding dramas are impacting performance more than the positives of Luai's leadership. Hopefully we see them move past it when Galvin is gone. I'm not saying they can't/won't prove to be fantastic signings (though personally I don't see it in Turuva). Just they have not yet provided any return on investment that can be considered good value.

If we were willing to pay Lachie 1. something then a solid foil for Luai at around 700 shouldn’t hurt too much. That’s all I’d pay either of them.
It's not happening
[Sexton or Sandon]

As you know, halves are highly in demand and what they've both shown this year, they'll be on demand.

Neither will be a Tiger.

Hard thing is players like Sandon won't come if they are not going to know they are starting. If we give him green light he is the 7 we want, then Latu will leave. I think we might need to look at a 'capable' reserve grade option (or just get Jayden Sullivan back)...
So your saying if Galvin would have stayed Latu would have left, so what's the difference, if we were to get Sandon, at least we know his body is up to it.

Yes, If Galvin had signed a 5 year extension, then Latu would have left. It was stated pretty much by his manager about 2 months ago that Latu had interest but was waiting to see what happened with LG. Had Galvin signed, him and Luai would of both been locked up to about 2029-2030 which would have really blocked Fainu's path.

Lets be real though. Not many clubs run with a "very good" half in their reserve grade sides. The likes of Brad Schneider and Sean O'Sullivan are the type of players you want. Anyone better is seeking a first grade jersey.

I’m loving the Claw.
But has to play his best to meet value I do see that.

Yep, great Idea. Let's give him to Melbourne like the injury prone Blore who hasn't had an injury in the best part of 2 years since he moved there .....

I’m so tired like you mate ..this past 10 years has been exhausting and I’m not getting any younger ..

There is no bigger critic here then me in respect of moving on Blore…but he was @BAGNF05 original plasticine man… although he was unluckily doing acl’s and not having dodgy hamstrings at 19 which I see as quite different injury types …Like I said ….they will need to pivot elsewhere if they bring Latu back this year and he gets injured again…Im hoping this is not the case as Latu seems to have some talent if he can stay on the field … but as they say, the best ability is availability…

Also an article about Terrell May - it's like we are the only club that people are interested in - which we are not - yet the media is saturated with WTs related "stories"
They also have an article on Taylan May and his MAY neck tattoo and have quotes like “it’s my family name “ and only took two hours…..
We must have such a profile that even tattoos make MSN.

I
I think people are a little fixated on Richo's 2-3 players comment. It was a stupid thing to say since he hasn't been able to back it up but he hasn't done a lot wrong in his time here so I'll forgive him of that. One, KPP, will be revealed soon. After paying more attention to him in the past fortnight he's a defo a first grader and an upgrade on Seyfarth like a million people have already said.

We'll definitely sign players.

The bigger issues are coaching and overall club development. We aren't winning a comp with Benji anytime soon. And the pathways are a mess. Richo has openly talked about doing more with less staff but that is not working for our pathways, to this point. Very early days but I just don't see a system across the grades.
Didn't we announce signings in the women's comp.

Easy player to like. Plays with a lot of emotion. Puts his hand up for tough carries. Good finisher who gets low and physical to cross the line. I do see the qualities.

But I also see:
That emotion has resulted in poor discipline at times. His backfield work is overstated as his carries are rarely impactful. He only has the one option as a finisher to get low. He doesn't have the acrobatics of other wingers. Defenders know he can only beat them one way.
Add in the generally poor defence and at times poor kick defusal.
