Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The questions now are who do we fill that spot with and wtf does $165k actually do for us?

I suppose the transfer fee can be used to pay out a player somewhere else to come across to us or pay out a Tumeth or Matamua.

Our halves are now Latu and Luai, Douehi backup and then Heath Mason or Api 😔
IMO, the $165k is a token so we are not complete doormats. It’s a face saving figure.
You’re correct re halves, but not sure about TDS, he’s our next issue, especially
given his comment about shopping around if we re- sign API.
So what should we do, play the long or the short game ?. Very difficult question when you consider how good API had been, but how much more is left in him.
And is TDS the new API ?

Easy player to like. Plays with a lot of emotion. Puts his hand up for tough carries. Good finisher who gets low and physical to cross the line. I do see the qualities.

But I also see:
That emotion has resulted in poor discipline at times. His backfield work is overstated as his carries are rarely impactful. He only has the one option as a finisher to get low. He doesn't have the acrobatics of other wingers. Defenders know he can only beat them one way.
Add in the generally poor defence and at times poor kick defusal.
All fair points.
I don’t know about his acrobatics, can’t say’s I remember one from him, but he looks the type, surely that’s in him? Hasn’t he done backflips after scoring?
Yeah he needs to work on his D all round but his kick defusal I thought was ok, has some issues, but safe enough.
But he is getting too dollar for a winger and for that I expect continued development, so I guess we’re paying overs bcoz of who we are, and that at his worst is a lot better than what we have, and if he continues to get better will be worth the money.
I’d rather be paying Tito $450 than Nofo $500. I think that’s an upgrade right there. I remember him scoring (I think) his first try at cambo? and it was an acrobatic freak of a try? He has been chasing that high ever since.
Anyway it’s fun watching The Claw when we’re up and he’s scoring.

Yep it’s a hard one Hal,
That’s why Richo & Benji get paid the big bucks 😁
I don’t want to see API get hurt but would like to see what TDS has to offer if we needed him as a starting no:9 ?
As I remember from the trials at the start of the year some people weren’t that impressed.
Hopefully he will/has improved with maturity or at least showing improvement.

What you all have to be ready for now is that no matter how Galvin plays for the Dogs he is now a media darling, and it will be reported as such.
I happen to think he's a good player but regardless he is now judged differently as channel 9 will invest in making him a star no matter how he plays.
If you need evidence just take a look at how his game for the Magpies was reported. He was poor that day but all the showed was the 1 try assist when the game was dead and buried.
He will play in the channel 9 Origin exhibition series next year for sure.

Canterbury have secured Galvin 3 and a half years at $750.000 a season.
What a load of bullshit this has all been, so effectively we have to believe he and his manager were willing to accept a $750.000 pay cut.
Over that period.

Then he hopes to fluke a further 3 year contract worth 1.25ml a season for another 3 years, so he finishes with the same amount in total that the West Tigers offered.

Wouldn't put it past Gusto promise Galvin that he would get TDS as well to clinch the deal.
It’s a half a chance. I don’t think TDS was ever a chance of going to Parra. Not with Ryley Smith. Mahoney seems to be on the nose, so a play for TDS could be on.

I believe it… he wants to get coached by his soul mate matching tattoo guy

Hopefully this puts an end to the "Gus likes Wests, he always talks well about us in the media".
The blokes an old school Tony Soprano. He praises his enemies while plotting their downfall.
We are the Bulldogs direct competition for the hearts and minds of western and south western Sydney.
Gould will always be plotting against Wests, it's just galling when forum posters believe his utterances.
