Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

You’re right but maybe it needed to happen. He apparently was telling people he wanted out after a big loss last year. The bandaid is now off, hopefully the powers that be have been plotting a finals run during this mini-break.
Don’t hold your breath. I’d say it’s absolute panic stations down there.

The questions now are who do we fill that spot with and wtf does $165k actually do for us?

I suppose the transfer fee can be used to pay out a player somewhere else to come across to us or pay out a Tumeth or Matamua.

Our halves are now Latu and Luai, Douehi backup and then Heath Mason or Api 😔
It can’t be used for any cap payments , we should have demanded a player

We really need a kicker and I don't think Doueihi is the best option long term.
Doueihi can't be in the side for his kicking alone.

He is a bit of a victim of his versatility. He isn't bad, but doesn't stand out in any one position. He has some good games, but also not a superstar of the league. A bit like Tracey at the Dogs. If a player in their position becomes available to sign, they are the first ones that you would upgrade.

Unless he wants to be an in one week, out the next first grader on 300k a year, he needs to pick his position and master it. Gotta do what's right for the team and all, but he might benefit from 2 seasons in England in his preferred position and come back as a specialist after that. The NRL is short of good lock forwards...if I was him I'd bulk up, get much fitter, learn to tackle and make that position my own.

I thought Mason was fairly sound defensively. Still a kid and as strong as he is, he'll get even better. Good acceleration, brave, plays well in the halves. I think he has a future in NRL at 9 or 6. Or 14.
My opinion is that Latu is a special talent and that we can't afford to bring him back too early. We need to take the long view. The timing of this Galvin shit is unfortunate, but we just have to deal with it. Mason was primarily a 5/8 coming through wasn't he?
I think he can do a good job for us until Latu's fit.

To be fair … Richo doesn’t come across as a panicker… I wish he would sign at least one player though just to provide a bit of hope …
Im sure hes been busy on the phone.

Braith made the point that we must have some external options and interest if we were prepared to let him go at all.

Because he was relatively cheap for what he brought.

I still think Taylan would solve a lot of problems for starters and a bronco or two.

Theyll be plenty of shedding at the end of this season.

If we are serious about Taylan, you bring him in now so he can gel for the rest of the season.

I don't know how we will go for the remainder of 2025, but we definitely need a smooth 2026 without distractions like this Galvin nonsense.

Stupidity if we do not get a player in return

Galvin will displace someone, likely Connor Tracey who has been exceptional

Apparently the plan is Burton to FB, Galvin 5/8. We should be asking for Tracey in return who can also play 5/8

Would rather a backrower though
Player swaps sound logical, but it's not up to the club to make decisions about swapping players. The player needs to agree. If Tracey wants to leave because he has lost his spot, and the Dogs are willing to release him, he would go on the market and make his own decision about which club he'll move to.

I still can't think of an example of a simple 2 way swap... I'm sure it's happened, but from the sounds of it, we have agreed to a release...the Dogs don't need to tap anyone to make it happen...

ON a side note, the Dogs may just be taking over his current contract for this year. It may only impact their cap by 1/3 of Galvins 2025 salary...that's like 100k
