Benji 2025 and Beyond

Yes, we had 16 Applicants but Sheens appointed himself and then Benji.

Benji has remodelled the side quite a bit, he missed Horsborough and Hetherington.

I think hes done better with some players and not others.

Hes big problem is not being able to get through to the players in too many games and that hes taking the wrong advices.

An unwillingness to drop players worries me. He might even have to sacrifice a game to make a statement and send a message.

But as I understand it, we have some money to blow.

Im not confident about his prospects, but id be fine to stand corrected.

Hes a tough kind of coach to follow, a complicated figure.

wow … sounds like we should be thankful that Benji did the club a solid and helped them out by taking on this poisoned chalice of a job that no one else wanted …I hope they are at least paying him well… I must have dreamed that Flanagan had some interest ..

lol Yeah what a load of bullcrap…..didn’t that clown in the fedora say we had lots of interest?
Benji won the job because he told them he wanted it.
 
I don't like the false positive narrative coming from Benji lately. Post match vs Cowboys he's talking about how proud he is of this team etc. Maybe he knows better as a Coach and saves all the sprays for an internal review. But the team is slipping back into being a F*(*kup machine again and he needs to find a way to snap them out of it.

Luai is our main guy and he's getting himself sent off 10 minutes into his stint playing without Galvin. Utter crap. He let the team down playing like that. But we're proud apparently.

Eyes up footy means not overplaying as well. Especially when we are so out of form and can be picked off in transition down our left edge almost at will. I don't expect finals footy this year but if we can't pick up points in our next 3 games.

I think Benji's got great individual coaching skills, interacting with players 1 x 1 etc. He can also handle the media glare in a press conference masterfully, but I'm really doubtful over his ability to make the team concentrate and turn up on game day.

I feel as though Benji would be much better as an assistant coach

Thats what he is paid for. To coach skills and tactics into his players. Not to have great interaction with his players and media conferences (that was his role at Fox). Needs to be tough with players and make them earn their spots in first grade. ( Listen to Belamy).
 
this day and age the coach is just a mouthpiece for the team's performance, isn't he ? Every now and then interrupts the defensive /attack coach at training to have a rant. Players are professionals being paid up to multi million dollar deals..Sports people were born with a will to win .A few words of encouragement ,a rocket up a few and a simple game plan on the day ,and being an agony Aunt during the week. Simples

Even if we do decide to move on from Benji the cupboard is bare. The next coach has to be someone who’s coached before at first grade. The best one available would be Brad Arthur but if he doesn’t want it or goes elsewhere I couldn’t give the job to someone like Trent Barrett, Kevin Walters or Anthony Griffin (though not sure where he’s at currently) should they apply for it. Clubs caught in a hard place.

yep , guys like that need to be seen ,so the coach that was rubber stamped , holds up to the woke way of things

Justin Holbrook Would be my first choice.
 
Richo must be losing patience. I dont think any coach gets us playing better. Is Luai really a 7 not so sure.

I think If benji gets sacked it will set us back further. Why cant benji get a good senior assistant like a hollbrook
 
Im not deathriding Benji but the likely replacement for him if he were to go might be Willie Peters who is currently coaching Hull KR in 1st place in the ESL .
Peters has a strong relationship with Richo
