Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Nothing like a 'test the market' story to send everyone into a panic.

We may or may not end up retaining Tallyn.

But literally all this does is allow transparency.

Tartak can do his research and come back to the Tigers with a real understanding of Tallyn's choices, giving the Tigers the opportunity to present the best offer they can, with full knowledge of what's out there and the choice he is having to make.

It also expedites the process, meaning that if the outcome is not ideal, we can move on quickly.

Richo seems to be very bandaid-off in his last roll of the administrator dice. He's more than happy to push through any uncomfortable changes or conversations as quickly as possible so that the club can keep moving and look to the next step in the rebuild.

We saw him expedite the exits of Bateman, Papali'i, Klemmer, rightly or wrongly.

He's put timeline ultimatums on Leichhardt Oval and it's development (which has paid off) and is attempting to do the same with Campbelltown.

He pushed through an outcome for Olam's retirement.

He exposed the Galvin situation early once the writing was on the wall, again, whether you agree or not, which the club has now (mostly) put behind us. Well, the club has, many fans haven't.

Now, rather than wait until November, he's giving them early permission to see what interest they'll get with Talllyn, so that they can decide, again, with time on their side, whether they can competitively counter or if it's too expensive for them to retain him.

We don't have to agree with everything he does. In fact, we won't; I don't.

But Richo makes moves. He's dynamic, efficient and can pivot extremely well when required. If a situation looks like dragging out or lingering, he'll nip it in the bud, even in the face of short-term pain, if he thinks the club will benefit in the long-term.

I have absolutely no problem with it and hope we are more upfront, honest and swift with all our club moves moving forward, both in recruitment or otherwise.

All that being said, I think the sell of the transition of Tallyn from support act to lead must simply have been poor. I can't believe that a Wests Junior who loves the club, has been in the top grade 5 minutes and who inevitably would have the starting 9 jersey inside of 2/3 years for effectively as long as he wants, in a club on the rise, would completely flip his career on it's head for an entire change of system.

The ONLY thing I can think, is that the local, young boys, who were sold the pathways vision, have seen the culture shift in the last couple of years and aren't being red-carpeted into the NRL roles they were potentially earmarked for since Harold Matts. Not to say the culture isn't for the better, but appears more built on a winning mindset brought in from external recruits, rather than a solely, build-from-within, 'locals only' ethos.

Galvin looked to have fallen out with the new in-crowd. Very possible Tallyn has had similar thoughts.
Well written thanks

ultimately if the club chooses api , fine , whatever . why is tallyn given permission to negotiate with rival clubs NOW ?

if this is anything than a loan deal we are a meme club and do things other clubs don’t

Honestly conflicted as to how to feel here... on one hand Tallyn trying to dictate to the club over what to do with Api is kind of setting me the wrong way but at the same time anyone who's watched TDS knows the player he's gonna be in the future & is going to be a huge loss for us.
It also says to anyone wanting to leave that they can still act up and we'll roll over eventually. Galvin did it, now TDS and many others have done it before Richo.

Think the tension was in the air when TDS was sent back to reserve grade think it has been festering for a while.

I just don't get his impatience he's only young and can achieve top dog status over the coming seasons with advice from one of the best slowly increasing to being an 80-minute hooker, is he ready for that right now I doubt it.

What is it with some young dude's attitudes of I want it all and I want it now, was Galvin getting in his ear.
Had a gutful of players dictating terms to us so I'm turning on him and saying bugger off to the Knights and we will see if you are an 80-minute 1st grade hooker right now, good luck with that.

Just because tds is given permission to look around doesn’t mean it’s garunteed he will leave
He’s not a starter here so probably decrease his value apart from potential. Come November he might have more runs on the board to get offered more. Can’t make him sign an extension and it’s only fair for him to know his value. Signing players on unders or without a run on position won’t keep players happy
Obviously the knights didn’t offer enough

I suspect he was in cup as deal might of been on the table for the knights but guessing they didn’t have the $$ to spend

I wouldn’t be getting any hopes up of KPP coming early, the fact his manager asked to speak to other clubs suggests he doesn’t want to be at Newcastle. Dogs favourites in my eyes but there was whispers manly wanted him a month or 2 ago which could be the reason Aaron Schoupp is being let go to open a top 30 spot. Maybe cows if he was willing to move to qld?

As a club the line needs to be drawn in the sand. Hold us to ransom and there's the door. Only way to stop this shite.

I don't want to lose Tallyn.

I want to lose Api less.

This just feels like we are no longer looking at being good 'down the road'. The time to succeed is now, not in 5 years.

You don't KNOW what you get in Tallyn.

You do KNOW what you get in Api.

I think the club is shifting the focus it seems to have had about 5 year plans etc in favour of- you need to be better right away.

I'm not sure the market is as strong as hoped for Tallyn. Reed Mahoney is going to shake free. I'd say Tartak, who the Tigers have a great working relationship with, is going to see if he can get a great deal for Tallyn before the real good money gets sunk into Mahoney.

I still think the timing of Seibold's removal will dictate where Mahoney goes- he's the perfect fit for what Mick Ennis bangs on about.

Really, only Knights & Cowboys facing a real need at #9 next season.

If this is true, it has a very 2017 feel to it when we lost 3 of the big 4. At least back then we were around 9th and had a proven coach.

Losing Galvin, Large x 2, and TDS all in the same year is unacceptable for a club where we are at. All 4 of these guys will be first graders at worst and likely spine players.

Imagine if Storm took that attitude with Harry Grant when they had Cam Smith.

I think that's the way it's heading mikey, Richo has had enough of these young, dumb and full of (you know what) players with attitude now.

This is following the Galvin script so closely it's nearly plagiarism, the only difference is it's not been played out in the media with all holds barred.
