if the workers think the boss is a flip and aren't in on his process . There is no pointIt’s not wrong but it’s a means to an end Ink, not an end in itself.
Question - If Benji keeps attracting players to the club…does that help you to overlook some of his other (ahem) deficiencies?
I’m kinda getting the feeling he will be here next year now …regardless what happens on the field rest of this season
Problem is as well there’s really not a quality coach that’s available to replace Benji either. Best one available is probably Brad Arthur, but even he’s a risk to take on given he has a mixed record. If the club decides to move on from Benji there is a real factor that you upset the core of the playing group and some might want out. We also will be labelled a basket case again (which will have some merit to it) sacking another coach in a very short period, especially if we sacked him for someone that’s shit like Barrett, Walters or Griffin. I think we’ve had more head coaches than any other team since 2013, I don’t know for sure but I can’t think of another club that’s changed coaches consistently as we have since 2013. It is a result driven business being a head coach, but I really don’t see a quality coach being available should they move on from Benji. If they do decide to move on from him, I don’t see many putting their hand up to come here knowing you’ve got 2 years at best to succeed otherwise you’re sacked. We are competing because we have better players, but we are not well coached. Team selection, bench use and attack close to the line is diabolical. Again last night we get Sione as first receiver on the 5th, this happens at least once a week with a backrower or prop.
Really want Benji to succeed as a coach just can't see it. Problem for us now is that he has the players onside and clearly has pull in the market, so if we sack him or move him on then the players will probably have a hissy fit and want out. But do they want to win games or be best mates with the coach? He either needs to be overruled and given senior assistants with experience and runs on the board or moved on. Just feels like we are stuck now and really have no choice. Can only hope he gets better.
In my opinion, Benji is locked in, by the CEO, by the players who have signed on with him as coach, and because of the Wests Tigers #teamfirst family culture that he is bringing into the club.
His journey mirrors the expectations of the CEO.
A virtual new club, a different Wests Tigers club in direction, purpose and vision.
Yes, I'm so disappointed that we've lost 5 straight but in the bigger picture, there's so much in place now that was never in the brief of coaches since 2012.
And it's getting better, without the ladder telling our true story.
Losing says part of it, but it's the type of losing that better reflects the team.
We have been beaten but nothing like our history of recent seasons:
8-10
32-6
30-18
24-26
24-46
20-4
22-38
20-18
34-28
0-64
12-22
28-32
14-18
12-16
All in all, 2 heavy losses in 14 rounds, and a lot of closish games where our player depth has proven our nemesis.
More real NRL players will come, and we'll find ourselves able to mix it 80 mins.
Blind Freddie can see that we're improving.
Do people not remember before Sheens & Benji took over the club were looking for a Coach ( Now the Bulldogs coach)I have previously been a big Benji supporter but I can't defend him after the disgraceful team selections last night.
Alarm bells rang last week when Mason missed 11 tackles and it was obvious the Raiders would target him.
Mason should have been hooked after the first try but no Benji wanted to stick to his deliberate plan of playing 3 halves. I actually feel sorry for Mason he should never have been put in that position. He is a 14 or plays cup.
Also I'm over this Latu is at lock to give him minutes BS. Since when do you take the best halve at the club with injury issues and ask him to build up his minutes defending in the middle it's madness. The only thing it is likely to do is injure him again.
And WTF is with the bench we don't have 17 quality first graders so how are we continually leaving player on the bench unused.
The reality is if we had a decent coach we would be on the top 8 now instead of scrapping for the spoon !!!!

I think without the galvin distraction we'd be further along in our progress. For one, we wouldn't have wasted time and effort training and playing with him. Woulda shoulda coulda. In years gone by a few close losses or adversity and we have dropped away
With the Galvin saga gone I just get the impression this won’t happen this year
Nice, Madge was a shit coach so Benji gets a free pass with no accountability.......Do people not remember before Sheens & Benji took over the club were looking for a Coach ( Now the Bulldogs coach)
We had an experienced coach in Madge and we know how that worked out.
Agree 💯
But by some of the comments by our forum friends,
There must not be many other Blind Freddie’s
I’m assuming you’re making this based off today’s article. While I do think it’s likely Benji might get a crack for next season, Richo isn’t gonna come out and say what he truly thinks to the media. Only way we’ll know for sure is if we make the announcement if we’re moving on from him, or if he turns up to pre-season training for next season when the time comes.Edit the title to - Benji 2026
In my opinion, under Maguire, we were rotating the same useless, no-hope players, and Penrith and Canberra would certainly beat us by 60 points or more, especially after scoring 16 unanswered points. Now, we never give up, and could have won both games. By saying that, our defence still has too many holes, and we desperately need more depth in the forwards. You said we've improved. Where have we improved?
Do you believe our line speed and first contact are good?

It’s not like there aren’t options. If Benji wants to swap Skelton out for a speedier winger, Staines is there. If Benji's gameplan is to play an expansive approach in attack, then should he not bring in more pace in the outside backs.
Maybe this is the plan when Taylan is ready but what about Skelton is he to slow for this attacking approach.
He does a lot of good grunt work and is always a chance of a close to the line try but do we need another speed man in his position to suit Benji's attacking ideas.
I can’t find it but basically Richo said in an interview that Benji is safe for next year and is happy with how we’re playing even though we have had some close losses. He thinks Benji will get better with more time basically if I can find it again I’ll share it.Can you link thia article @Glenji95
The players are playing for the coach they believe and respect him imagine when Benji gets a better squadIn my opinion, under Maguire, we were rotating the same useless, no-hope players, and Penrith and Canberra would certainly beat us by 60 points or more, especially after scoring 16 unanswered points.
