Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Apparently there are 4 teams chasing Da Silva, which is good for WTs. If he goes on loan to the Knights for the remainder of the year, KPP can come our way. If the Knights want him for next year, they have two or three really good young second row forwards who have been playing NRL while their props are either suspended or injured. One I believe is former Panthers' junior.

TDS only has four teams after him … disappointing result…Im tipping Manly might be his new home

Api only wants two additional years apparently

I think we need at least 6 new recruits.

Id be promoting Izaac Tu'itupou & Krystian Mapapalangi as backs depth. Not a big fan of Will Craig but it looks like he may have also moved into top 30 also.
Yea, lets do a throwout.

Adam Doueihi
Solomona Fataape
Brent Naden
Charlie Staines
Brandon Tumeth
Justin Matamua
Josh Feledy

I would keep Faataape on a min/val contract. If he wanted anything more then 170k then let him loose.
We keep one of AD or Staines. Throw the rest (Sadly including Naden. I really wanted to see him make it, but he helps us loose games more then win them).

For as long as Doueihi, Seyfarth, and Twal are automatic starters in this team, there will be little overall improvement in wins.

Centre will change in a few weeks. Perhaps the right backrower too. But the squad desperately needs a capable 13 so Luai and Latu can do more of their work out wide. I’d give Murray an opportunity.

Koriasau isn’t an 80-minute hooker. Reducing his and the teams effectiveness. It’s actually a liability the way opposition middles target him over a game. But Benji seems to be pushing Da silva out so nothing will change here, and most likely neither will the wins.

Skelton’s errors and discipline are unforgivable. He’s a fan favourite so excuses are made for him.

But nothing will change next week. It’s a winnable game, so Benji will pick the same players, maybe jag a result, but nothing changes in the greater scheme with the same reserve graders contributing to wooden spoons getting picked every week.
Sione was actually a 13 coming through . perhaps a preseason of him there might be what we need .

Since forever this is the issue. You cannot let NRL level players go without a similar replacement. We lost on Galvin. Yes, Latu comes in but what did we get for Galvin's potential? We are going to lose on our significant investment in TDS.

When you do this, your team loses. 5 in a row this season and many more in a row in previous seasons. Then the fans don't come. And then the club loses leverage. For example, does Campbo council really care if we stomp our feet and don't play there? The average crowd figures compared to the possible figures indicate maybe they shouldn't.

It is not enough to say "we want players who want to be here". Because at the moment only 22 of our top 30 even get a game and if we keep losing or not playing fringe players, another 2 or 3 won't want to be here either. And then what?

I just have to assume this is the point where the Titanic is in the middle of its very slow turning circle.

The Tigers board and CEOs have treated Campbo like crap for years. The team never plays well their either.

I don't get why we are letting TDS go tbh. Api has two more years but we aren't winning a premiership too soon so invest in the youth..same old story with this side.

You can't publicly announce that you're most likely deserting an area and then expect fans to flock to your games.
If you float that the team is likely to move it's home ground to Parramatta, 42 kms away from Campbelltown how could you reasonably expect to maintain a supporter base, while at the same time claiming the juniors of the area?

It's been the same message for Leichardt. It's not like Campbelltown or Parramatta is local for inner West fans where there are plenty. Richardson wants to play out of a stadium to attract sponsors and there is only two at the moment that fit that criteria and neither of them are in the localities of our targeted supporter base.

I partly agree, but the difference is that the club will maintain a presence at Leichhardt even if it is severely limited which keeps that emotional connection.
Richo's talking about leaving Campbo completely.

I maybe wrong but I don't think he sees playing out of three places as viable or productive. The club can still actively support the junior clubs at Campbelltown - lots of clubs have affiliations with areas that are not in their locale - but unless they're is a rebuild of the stadium that suits and attracts the corporate dollar playing there won't be an option just like Leichardt. The aim being to build a good footy side, the fans will follow and corporates will be sufficiently catered for.

The Tigers decision to allow Tallyn Da Silva to test the open market has started a frenzy with three fresh clubs joining Newcastle in circling the rising star.

Boom Tigers hooker Tallyn Da Silva is set to start a player market frenzy with four teams already expressing an interest in signing the 20-year-old.
North Queensland, Manly and Parramatta have joined Newcastle in wanting to speak to Da Silva after the Tigers granted the local product permission to talk with rival clubs.

It is expected that Da Silva will start meeting with other NRL teams in the coming weeks as he ponders a move away from the Tigers.

It comes as the Tigers plan to meet with co-captain Api Koroisau this week as they step up their bid to re-sign the veteran rake.

Da Silva’s camp has made it clear they want to remain at the Tigers, but will look elsewhere if they extend Koroisau.

While Da Silva has been permission to speak with rivals, the Tigers do not necessarily have to release him from his contract which expires at the end of next year.

As it stands, permission for Da Silva is just for 2027 and beyond.

The Tigers and Koroisau’s management had preliminary talks earlier this month about inking an extension, but those chats are expected to continue as the parties move toward locking down Koroisau beyond 2026.

It is understood the 32-year-old wants an extra two years on top of his current deal.

The Tigers and the Knights have been in talks about a potential rest-of-season loan for Da Silva, but that also shifted to a permanent player swap which would involve Kai Pearce-Paul – who has signed with the Tigers from 2026 – joining the club immediately.

If Newcastle sign Da Silva, that would likely see Phoenix Crossland shift to lock with Da Silva sharing the hooking duties with Matt Arthur next season.

Meanwhile, Parramatta are on the verge of upgrading and extending Ryley Smith, who has been impressive in his first season but they need to add another hooker.

The Cowboys are yet to replace Sydney Roosters-bound Reece Robson and have held talks with Canterbury hooker Reed Mahoney, who, too, has been granted early permission to talk with rival clubs.

So far, North Queensland have scoffed at Mahoney’s asking price, but remain on the lookout for a hooker having met with Canberra-bound Jayden Brailey while also asking the question of the Tigers if they would release Koroisau early, which the Tigers rejected.

Manly also want a long-term No.9 with both their hookers Lachlan Croker and Jake Simpkin. Da Silva was an unused interchange player on Friday night as he was forced to watch on from the sidelines as the Tigers lost 16-12.

Coach Benji Marshall said he was “not sure” when asked following the game if Da Silva would finish up at the club before June 30.

Marshall also defended his bench rotation. “The game was in the balance and we needed the best players on the field,” Marshall said. “If there was an opportunity to put Tallyn on I would’ve but we needed Api on the field.”

probably why they’re trying to offload sexton to us , to free up a roster spot for tds

Are we going to prioritise Sexton over Latu in the halves? If not, does Sexton know he is coming here to play reserve grade ? Might be better off at the Dogs doing that,,
