Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

There is almost zero chance Benji wouldn’t have a say in who stays and goes.
He has the final say , i mean re releasing players and when. the board refused to go the legal route and kick their feet in with LG. Likely the same with keeping tallyn around
Which isn’t fair to then blame Benji

Our roster from the outset of the season was always bottom three even with the recruits we made during the off season. You will gain nothing by sacking another coach and probably upset half the team. We need another influx of about four quality players between now and round one 2026. If than Benji still fails to deliver it’s time to look elsewhere. No one is calling for uncle Wayne’s head and Souths are struggling with arguably a far better roster than ours. Coaches play a part but the quality of your roster is the no1 ingredient in success

Honestly my view movng forward is benji stays as head coach. Has done a great job getting the boys to play for him. If I'm richo though I'm picking the coaching squad and I'm bring in the best x's and o's guy available and some none as a defensive stalwart. Then im continuing to turn the roster over to have competition for positions.

I’ve just read an article by Buzz about Willie Peters returning from the UK to possibly coach us. Old contact of Richo and been out of the NRL circus for a couple of years. I only remember him as a a journeyman at South’s. Any Suoer League experts who can give an opinion ?

We have released Sullivan, Steph, Bateman, Klemmer, I Papalii, Galvin and Da Silva whilst signing just May and Hunt
It just doesn’t make sense on any level. It sets the team up for failure.
Its staggering. Surely Benji would have kicked up a stink about this - it affects him more than anyone and we are now seeing the results of it and a coach under pressure. I hope they have a plan but our squad looks significantly weaker than the start of the season and will it actually compete in 2026? 3-4 decent first graders for the top 13 need to be signed stat. KPP is a marginal pass with plenty of upside.

apparently Isaaz in cup has been upgraded to our squad , will most likely see him on the wing this week
I did wonder about this. He’s been shooting the lights out apparently and has played first grade before for Souths. I wonder if he’s a direct swap for Skelton or will go on the other wing with Turuva going to fullback.

What about an attack coach because what they have shown looks reserve grade like. Benji was attacking coach last year. Nothing's changed.

Well, that's not quite true, is it?

Loaned Sullivan, released Galvin, Klemmer, Bateman, Papali'i & potentially Da Silva

Didn't re-sign Utoikamanu

Signed Hunt, Terrell May, Taylan May, Bird, Luai, Turuva, Skelton...

Not exactly as bad as is being pictured..

he’s been our best in cup with mpaps tbh and has kinda revived a winning streak , I’d guess turuva fb

I love a transition year as much as the next guy,
but a decade and a half of em,
back to back !

Now that’s a bit rich for my blood 🥴
Transition years are for teams who have a lot of success. Like Penrith, if they ever had a season where they weren’t contenders, then they would be the perfect example. Before their recent resurgence, when they were floundering, you could have made the case they were having a transition year before new stars emerge and they make another run. Clubs who don’t make the finals for 15 years aren’t having transition years. They are just being inept.

With Klemmer, Bateman and Pap I was glad to see the back of them.

With Steph I was disappointed but with how he’s playing now and getting May we definitely traded up.

With Galvin I think he was always going to leave but if by chance he did stay we would have probably lost Latu. I’d rather keep Latu.

It was either Da Silva or Api with Haywood as his replacement down the road. I was hoping for Api.

I’m as desperate as anybody to hear some new signings but with the decisions being made every one is what I’m glad happened.

Bit of drama for the Blues on the eve of the decider.

Stefano Utoikamanu has missed his flight and will be a late arrival into Blues camp…

😂
He hadn’t finished writing his lines on the blackboard for Bells.
“Mighty Boy will not be lazy” x1000
Problem was he took so long taping four sticks of chalk together.
Still taking shortcuts to lazy town the Mighty Boy.

if everything happened to plan our roster would be :
Klemmer pap Bateman Stef on $950k a year
LG on $1 million
TDS of $500k
That’s horrific
🤮
