Game Plan V Warriors

Nullify the Warriors' Forward Pack and Crowd

The Warriors' strength this weekend will lies in the crown and their forward momentum. To deal with the hoome ground advantage and set the platform we need to counter their forward pack. To achieve this we need to focus on:
  • Early Defensive Line Speed: Meeting the Warriors' forwards at the ad line to disrupt their go-forward and prevent them from gaining easy meters. We probably won't win the collision but we need to control the ruck.
  • Controlled Ruck Speed: Slowing down the play-the-ball will hinder the Warriors' ability to play at their preferred pace, disrupting their attacking flow.
  • Defensive Tenacity: The defence on both edges must be tenacious in order to attack the new halves combination and their edge play. Sukkar starting provides a solid edge on both sides of the ruck.
  • Hope to start: Starting Hope instead of Api will allow us to stiffen the middle early to provide attacking opportunites for Api against a tiring pack.

Control Tempo

  • Leadership and Creativity: Luai and Api have to step up this week and control the tempo of the game. They are both seasoned campaigners so must be responsible for slowing play when the Warriors have momentum and gaining momentum for us should we stall. If we control the tempo we will control the game we will be in the fight.

Target the Restructured Spine

With Taine Tuaupiki stepping in for Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad at fullback and Tanah Boyd replacing Luke Metcalf in the halves, the Warriors' spine presents attacking opportunities:
  • Exploit Tuaupiki's Inexperience: Tuaupiki's limited NRL exposure makes him susceptible to high-pressure situations. We need to focus on kicking away from RTS and focus our strategic kicking game agaisnt Tuaupike. We need to ensure bombs and grubbers are focussed and contested to test his positioning and handling.
  • Pressure on Tanah Boyd: Boyd's transition into the Warriors' system is still fresh. the application of consistent defensive pressure should disrupting his rhythm. In addition we should be directing our edge attack back at him to force early fatigue, force errors and limit his playmaking. He will be the primary kicker so this can be targetted..

Bring it Home Strong

The Wahs have faded in the final 20 minutes a few times this year. Their bigger forwards struggle with an up tempo game. We should aim to switch up the tempo again in the last 20 to take advantage of this.

It will be difficult to overcome the home ground advantage with all three grades at home for the Warriors noting that they are also coming off a bye. We need to harness the energy and enthusiam of last week and combine it with the cool heads of Api and Luai to over come this. The reshuffled spine provides a clear vulnerability for us to exploit. If we can control the tempo this game is defintiely winnable.

Whilst Turuva got better as game went on against the chooks. I've always prefered Staines
at fullback if bula is out.Turuva did it the other day but Staines backs up really well
around the ruck in his limited opportunities. Sunia is a great finisher out wide and would rather
him out there. Like Staines to get more of a run at fullback.

Anusley must have decided to make sure we lose this week by as big a margin as he can manufacture,Sutton is the ref and Klein is the the video cheat.
It will be a miracle if we get a good result.
How many times do we get Sutton!! Are there any other refs out there?

I would rest Luai , he was ok last night but still wasn’t at his best , travel over and watch , support the boys , Hope on bench AD with Latu , Bird to lock .
Staines to fullback , Turuva back to wing .or as was last game
We need a centre - maybe Bird to centre , lucky I’m not coach got no idea really
