Are we cursed?

Well for a start - when one is on certain Wests Tigers Forums and someone wishes to view an issue through the prism of Balmain eyes (or Western Suburbs eyes) - they don’t get hounded off to a dinosaurs holding pen set up crudely out the back. 🙄

Beyond the forum - I think Wests Ashfield have shown a lot of class in being more than generous in protecting the Balmain legacy. 👍
There is a western suburbs and balmain logo on the jersey. You know that right?

The remaining legacy sits in nsw cup and below.

Do you want more than that?

People have a hard time understanding your complaints when you are not clear about what you want.

What do you mean exactly ?

Does fully supporting the Wests -Ts mean you must support every aspect of right now - with no dissension. You support the home ground split just as it is circa 2025, you support the Magpies as NSW Cup team, you support every decision our management makes ?

Or do you accept that culture is a fluid beast and is ever evolving? And that players, coaches, and management are all prone to making mistakes.

I would argue that everyone on this forum fully supports the Wests-Ts.

The willing arguments/discussions revolve around the detail.
The elements that go to make the club as it is today, tomorrow and into the future. I don’t know why some people are so threatened by any of this 🤷‍♂️
Im perfectly fine with all that. The niggling and harping on from the crusty dinosaur tigers/magpies is a waste of oxygen and counterproductive to the future of this club.

You know exactly what it means.

You can't even bring yourself to say the word 'Tigers' in your post here. You're being deliberately provocative, then wondering why people don't happily respond...

Very simply, do you think the majority of people want to keep talking about Balmain and Wests, or, do you think the majority would rather only talk about the now 26 year old club?

You've had people 'on the other side of the aisle' to you, frequently renounce their former ties to Balmain in discussion, yet you won't, clearly, do the same.

'Rules for thee but not for me', aye?

If you don't want to see the Wests Tigers swallow up everything that was Wests Magpies and the Balmain Tigers, then that's your prerogative, but understand that you are in the diminishing minority.

That prevailing attitude of being unwilling to let go of the past in the modern iteration of the club is seen as an anchor by a lot of people and something that actively, and objectively, prevents true unity.

So you can have that opinion of course, but don't go stomping your feet when less and less people agree with you year on year or when terms like 'dinosaur' get thrown around.

It's accurate. Your attitude is an antiquated one. And one that is dying out.

It's a shame, because as a Balmain supporter growing up, I haven't bought a single piece of Balmain merchandise (and there's still plenty around) since 1999, and had grown quite fond of the magpie emblem, history and enjoyed coming together as one.

...But attitudes like yours, particularly in the adversarial nature in which they're delivered, continue to create an 'us and them' dynamic - and is exactly the problem.

If you can't see that then the conversation is moot.

Well said.

i just want them to say it and stop playing hide the sausage

That won’t happen ..: the 3 or 4 of them that are still fighting this war here would never be so black and white …pardon the pun ..

Much easier to cry about “disrespect “ to the “heritage “ and bias to the other joint venture partner that’s been dead over 10 years now

they support Dennis Burgess blindly, even though his hair looks like someone has had sex with it and is a complete embarrassment for the club on looks alone, but it makes sense when the reports were he said he's bringing the Magpies back.

lol. You say one thing all high and mighty and then do the exact opposite.

You want to explain? Seems like you are just taking the opposite view on everything and not bringing any receipts....you sat there doubting everything I said about funding and I presented the figures in black and white...Tell us why Burgess is so good...I'm listening.

And you are 💯correct B2T re "the poster be shut down" as I was shut down for 10 days [and I have not been told which post/posts I offended the rules in], this being my 1st day back to the forum.
Welcome back you old bugger, now just behave yourself and leave the Indian Chief alone, Okay. 👍

Yea thats a good idea - just ban anyone you don't agree with. Very Trumpian.
I agree with your point, but don't start with this bullshit.

Both sides on politics in all western countries are attempting to do this, it is not unique to him, or the left, or the Torries, or Albo and Labor.

Everyone is actively engaged in the censorship of dissenting opinion at the moment, on both sides of the aisle.

It's weak, but it is not unique to one leader.

I'm not going to start a new, hijacked topic, but that type of add-on is lazy as shit.

You really aren’t great with nuance, are you.
This is a wonderful rant but has nothing to do with the post it purports to answer 🥴

The knee jerk response on this forum to revert to extreme Western Suburbs/Balmain tropes when anyone dares to talk about the fine detail of how the club is set up/presented etc ... is quite depressing.

If you read back through the posts I said I cared about protecting the Balmain legacy in response to @cochise who said he didn’t.

I find that incredibly sad. I mean you don’t wipe out 2x92 years of magnificent history just because some lily liveried types get triggered if we aren’t robotically mouthing from the exact same hymn sheet. To openly acknowledge our legacy should never be seen as a threat to the here and now.

I would like to think I/we can all be Wests Tigers fans without being told by others how to be a Wests Tigers fan.
