OFFICIAL Taylan "Tiny" May #301

You are 100% correct!

At no point was this an obstruction under the rules or current interpretations!
Yep, Taylan was clear of Samuela 7m before he got to Turbo. Taylan then makes a beeline for the posts. Tom just made a poor decision which exacerbated it optically.

It also happens all the time in most games in front of a complete defensive line; looked worse because Tom was last line.

Play on for 117 years.

Yep!

Even when Samuela was 2 metres ahead of May - he was not directly obstructing any defender!

You completely correct, and astonishingly the bunker got it correct too.
But when they started watching slow-mo replays, and then Neville and the has-beens started trying to find a way to call a shepherd, I thought for sure some more Tigers Tax was heading our way.
My guess is they had already over taxed us during that game and we were getting a return.

Neville and the has-been is my new name for all the shite commentary teams out there. Lift ya game ya bias bunch of clowns.
The interesting part for me, thinking about it today, is that two weeks in a row we got the benefit of a 50/50 call that went on to cement the match for us. Benji acknowledged this in the press conference, there was a borderline forward pass in the Dogs game and this quasi obstruction yesterday.

Benji said we often don't get those calls. He's right. But also it's more proof that when you are playing better, and winning, and the opposition thinks you are dangerous and the fans / media / refs think you are an improving side, you start to get the calls. You get no help when you are in the doldrums, but you get the slight favour of the God of Football (GOF) when you are finding form.

Considering Kola also scored by running in behind Turbo for that first try, I call it evens.

But going home and watching the replay, the commentators say "Turbo doesn't know which player to take". Is that right, don't know which player to take, the one with the ball or the guy without the ball, galloping in the opposite direction?

I personally think the bunker got it right, it may have been an odd and unfortunate situation but May never runs in behind Samuela and Turbo basically gets thrown off by Samuela's sudden left-foot step to get out of the way. I don't recall seeing too many players penalised for trying to get out of the way.
It was a poor defensive read from Turbo, yes Samuela baulked him, however he didn't impede him and the reality was he was in front and to the side of May, they never crossed over.

Noice. 👏👏👏

Those were the days.
I can still remember the day after the G/F win, Steve addressed the crowd at Leichhardt Oval, all going nuts at winning '05, when he said the Wests Tigers would become the Manchester United of the NRL.
And then it happened.
Last season, Man U finished 15th, much like us, way down the pecking order. 🤣

Good pick up, better player than I realised. Knows exactly how to play centre.
I hope he’s sorting out his mental issues because we wouldn’t really know his state of mind, except when he runs on the field he feels that’s where he belongs. My concern will be the off season with time on his hands and no real focus.
Unless he makes the Samoan team, which would be good for him, and us.
