I feel like that guy only cares or turns up at our club when he's being paid. Never goes to any anniversary events. Which is a shame. He loves to ghost us hahhahah

Complex legacy. After 2005 I felt he was more interested in tinkering and experimenting with his ideas of footy over anything else. He's a bit of a diva too as far as I can tell.

He's a legend, but I'm curious to see how others feel about him in 2025.

The bloke has been backstabbed and humiliated by the club twice now. Do you really blame him?
You should feel lucky he has kept the secrets of the joint to himself. I’m sure that’s due to NDAs but he could really derail the momentum that’s been building should he feel so inclined.

I'm with you on this. It's very disappointing that he won't attend these special events, but WT really do seem to be the toxic ex-husband that you had to get AVOs against. I think it says much more about him not talking than not attending.

But on the whole, the "20 year celebration" was a complete non-event. No lap of honour, no interviews, nothing. So much could have been done, but against, WT missed a chance to do something really good with the players there.

Oh, and Fults is still my favourite 😍

Absolutely, like it was promoted and then for the fans - zilch.
Opportunity lost and so disappointing.

Sheensy is definitely as you describe him, a legend of the game. You don’t treat people the way our club did during his second tenure. It was clear from day one that our CEO didn’t want him and continued with his psychological bullying. Such a shameful episode in our club’s history and quite unlike his first appointment when Elias was on the board.
Maybe he ruffled some magpie feathers when he wanted reserve players in one team?
Sheens is well liked at Panthers and Raiders. He’s almost as old as Wayne Bennett so why should he subject himself to a hostile environment.

As others have said, he was treated poorly by the club. I get the first stint, he had run his race and it was time for a fresh approach, but the second stint he should have been returned to GM of footy or whatever it was he was brought here for. In fact you could turn the opening argument the other way and say the club has only ever wanted him when they were desperate and had no where else to go.
I really hope one day they can mend that bridge, but I don't think Sheens will forgive again.

The people who may have treated Sheens poorly are not "the club". - plenty of great coaches and players have been sacked by clubs and or have butted heads with individuals. There was nine years at Wests Tigers that Sheens has to be grateful for - some of them great years. This was about celebrating 2005 grand final team which he was largely a part of with the players. Like usual Tim makes everything about him. Unless he was unwell it was a dummy spit of the highest order IMO.

It would be a real shame if he dumped a bucket of crap on Pascoe and Lee who chopped him the last time

Would love to know what happened between him and Benji.

Regardless, another dumb decision bringing him back in the first place from dumb and dumber (Lee and Pascoe).
Exactly. Why bring him back if they don’t want to utilise his skills?
The club has often appeared to have issues with skills based recruitment and perhaps this is why there’s been a leaning toward recruiting those who’ve not shown success in the vacant positions.
Wasn’t it Benji and Robbie who fully supported Sheens’ coaching in 2011?

Sheens should never have been given the head coaching gig he would probably still be here if he stayed in the head of football role unless Richo didn't think we needed one that was his best position at that time of life.

He had shown through the years to have a good eye for talent and in his more recent spell seen the potential in Bula and went out and convinced him to come to the Tigers, I'm sure a lot of other teams were looking at him too, but Sheens got him across the line.

Some great perspectives here.

Does anyone know precisely why he left the club under so much acrimony in 2023?

I mean I know he was frustrated at Warren McDonnell leaving for Fulton. But I dunno, look at the attitudes of Galvin and DaSilva. I think it can't be strictly about junior development. He got his pay out, Benji is up and running... Come on.

What he did in 2005 was bigger than all of that...

Hmm. I'm not sure he was backstabbed the first time around. He dismantled and unstabilized the team (that he'd spent 5 years out of the finals building) too quickly. He also declined to move upstairs into a GM of football, forced the club to sack him and took us to court over unpaid wages.

2nd time around I really have no idea.

Until Benji starts getting a mention. That would be the destabilising bit.

What did Benji do to Sheens ? You are saying the club “ backstabbed” Sheens - was that Benji s doing ? I thought the results and Sheens part in them might have spoke for themselves…

Appointing Sheens to the club for the second time was another mistake made by Pascoe and Lee…considering the legal action and settlement that happened at the end of Sheens first tenure here ; it seemed crazy he would get a second opportunity at the club…and things played out accordingly

if Sheens wants to spill the beans on what went on than so be it , althoigh there is a non disclosure agreement as you mention so that’s probably not happening … but there is nothing keeping Hagipantellis quiet is there? He leaks about everything else that went on and seems to have a current interest in embarrassing the club…so if there is some dirt about Benji why hasn’t he came out with it ?
