Madge won everywhere except with us. I always felt he needed that next year after finally getting cap space to sign API and papalii but we sack him before he gets the chance and go backwards. It may not have worked out, but he deserved the opportunity. Our club management was terrible.

Classic Stefano game, especially the second half. In my opinion he's a long way from the best front rowers, even considering his recent run of form. He seems to hate the rough part of the game.
No club was gonna have success with Justin Pascoe and Lee Hagipantellis on the board. Well done Madge.

Agree with your Madge take.

As for the Stefano take. I agree he is not one of the best front rowers in the game but I believe he is only a slightly behind them. I thought he was comfortably Melbourne's best middle and had no help against two actual top tier middles in Haas and Carrigan.

Would have been interested if big Nelson played

And image if Madge could coach he would never lose with that roster

Lots is made about the Broncos roster but his left edge was Shibasaki and Karapani. They wouldn't of made our best 17 at the start of the season. Riki and Piakura are both decent players but far from a star back row pairing. Even a player like Walters went from journeyman to key player.
Add in managing some of the personalities in the side I don't think it is simply a matter of just a roster that is to good to lose. We've often seen in my opinion better rosters not win comps.
