ARLC says NRL players face 10-year ban for joining rebel leagues

Deserves its own thread

IMO it seems the NRL have dropped the ball on this

We live in a world where athletes earn upwards of millions of dollars a season, in some cases 100mil +

Australian sports seem to be so behind compared to the rest of the world

The NRL talks about growing the game but this is the exact thing that will dwarf it

Many countries will be watching Rugby 360, UAE, Tokyo, America etc

If our players go there and excel, earn their money and come back for a few seasons, guess what? The international crowd will tune into our game and perhaps it might just generate interest and grow the game into an international game the way the NRL has been vying for it to

Taking 2 games to vegas, forcing it down everyones throat isn’t the way to do it

Why would the international crowd follow them back here?
By the time they were washed up enough to leave over there and come home, their league would have the next batch to focus on.

The novelty will wear off sooner or later, wouldn't be surprised if the rot starts next year.

Let's face it the American interest is just rubbish, do they really give a rats and doubt it brings in much betting revenue either.

But reading between the lines, and how Peter V’landys was just gifted oodles of DAZN and Foxtel USA coverage of the Everest race, it follows through that these same entities are pushing our NRL barrel in the good 'ol USofA.
Each scratching the other, so to speak.
