From 'Conversations with Richard Fidler" on the ABC..."Bubsie and the Boys by David Riley".
Believe it or not Bubsie is the 1st car to do a lap of the block in 1927.
If it's better than the interview [I'm sure it will be] it'll be a great read.

That's great that you read the Bible daily.

But just recently you had the hide to have a go at me for mentioning you are a Bible carrying Christian.
Ok...you told me that in a pm, but I would have thought you would have been proud of the fact rather than very angry.

Bit of a dog act to publicly air a PM.

"...And after a long time the boy came back again.
"I am sorry, Boy," said the tree, "but I have nothing left to give you-
My apples are gone."
"My teeth are too weak for apples," said the boy.
"My branches are gone," said the tree.
"You cannot swing on them-"
"I am too old to swing on branches," said the boy.
"My trunk is gone," said the tree.
"You cannot climb-"
"I am too tired to climb," said the boy.
"I am sorry," sighed the tree.
"I wish that I could give you something... but I have nothing left. I am an old stump. I am sorry..."
"I don't need very much now," said the boy, "just a quiet pleace to sit and rest. I am very tired."
"Well," said the tree, straightening herself up as much as she could,
"well, an old stump is a good for sitting and resting. Come, Boy, sit down. Sit down and rest."
And the boy did.
And the tree was happy."

Roald Dahl was an exceptional author who had a huge influence on mine and many childhoods. If you have one of his rarer first or even second edition books, it could be worth between $24-36k AUD. Check your garage, attic or those old boxes, it could be a goldmine.

I love The Twits, great book. I always thought it was about the Twits own contempt for each other, which often occurs as a couple ages, especially in their twilight years. However, I read an article that said Roald Dahl’s inspiration was men who could or did grow beards, whom he believed were unkempt.

He couldn’t, or wouldn’t grow a beard, so it became part of The Twits narrative.
